Location: Plant
1. Job Purpose
To conduct accurate and timely chemical analysis of manganese ore, raw materials, process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with specified quality standards and provide reliable test results to the Production and Quality departments.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Sample Collection & Preparation
- Collect samples of manganese ore, raw material, crusher output, washed ore, concentrate, and finished products.
- Properly identify, label, record, and maintain all samples.
- Carry out sample drying, crushing, grinding, pulverizing, and sieving as per SOP.
- Ensure proper sample preparation to obtain accurate and representative results.
B. Chemical Analysis
- Perform chemical analysis of manganese ore and processed materials.
- Determine Manganese (Mn %) and other applicable parameters such as Fe, SiO₂, P, MnO₂, Moisture, Acid Insoluble, etc.
- Conduct wet chemical analysis and titration as per approved laboratory procedures.
- Perform Redox, Complexometric, and other applicable titration methods.
- Operate XRF and other laboratory instruments, wherever applicable.
- Calculate, verify, and report analytical results accurately.
C. Quality Control
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and repeatability of laboratory test results.
- Conduct duplicate, blank, standard, and reference sample analysis wherever required.
- Immediately report abnormal or out-of-specification results to the QC In-Charge / Quality Head.
- Provide timely quality results to Production for process control.
- Support quality inspection of raw materials and finished products before dispatch.
D. Laboratory Equipment
- Operate laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, ovens, muffle furnaces, pH meters, titration equipment, XRF, etc.
- Perform routine checks of laboratory instruments.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper handling.
- Inform the concerned department immediately in case of equipment malfunction.
- Maintain calibration and verification records.
E. Chemicals & Reagents
- Prepare and standardize laboratory reagents and standard solutions.
- Maintain proper labeling and storage of chemicals and reagents.
- Monitor chemical/reagent stock and expiry dates.
- Raise requirements/indents for laboratory chemicals and consumables as required.
- Handle acids, alkalis, and other chemicals safely.
F. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily laboratory test records and sample registers.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory reports.
- Maintain records of raw material, process samples, and finished product analysis.
- Maintain reagent preparation and standardization records.
- Maintain instrument, calibration, and maintenance records.
- Ensure all laboratory records are properly documented and traceable.
G. Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all laboratory safety rules and company SOPs.
- Use appropriate PPE while handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure protected storage and handling of acids, alkalis, and hazardous chemicals.
- Dispose of chemical waste as per company safety procedures.
- Maintain proper cleanliness and housekeeping of the laboratory.
- Immediately report any unsafe condition, chemical leakage, or laboratory incident.
H. Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Mining, Crusher, Washing Plant, Stores, and Quality departments.
- Communicate quality variations and abnormal test results to the concerned department.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions related to laboratory and quality issues.
1. Qualification
- B.Sc. Chemistry / M.Sc. Chemistry preferred.
- Diploma or equivalent qualification with relevant laboratory experience may also be considered.

- 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred in:
- Manganese Ore / Mineral Processing Industry
- Mining Laboratory
- Ferro Alloys Industry
- Metallurgical Laboratory
- Chemical Testing Laboratory
1. Required Skills
- Knowledge of manganese ore chemical analysis.
- Knowledge of Mn% determination.
- Good knowledge of wet chemical analysis and titration.
- Knowledge of Redox and Complexometric titration.
- Basic knowledge of XRF and laboratory instruments.
- Good knowledge of sample preparation techniques.
- Good analytical and calculation skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and laboratory reporting.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and chemical handling.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
