SME Careers is looking for an experienced Java Quality Assurance Lead (QAL) to support quality and consistency across Java AI training projects.

In this role, you will review AI-generated Java code and trainer/QA work, identify technical and quality issues, provide precise feedback, and ensure contributors follow project-specific guidelines and quality standards.

What You'll Do

- Review AI-generated Java code, backend solutions, debugging responses, tests, and technical explanations.
- Evaluate code for correctness, compilation, runtime behavior, OOP design, performance, security, readability, and maintainability.
- Identify issues such as incorrect logic, unsafe concurrency, poor exception handling, inefficient algorithms, and hallucinated APIs.
- Monitor trainer and QA performance and provide actionable feedback.
- Answer technical questions related to Java, Spring Boot, testing, concurrency, collections, exceptions, and related topics.
- Maintain QA documentation, FAQs, style guides, trackers, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
- Support contributor onboarding and training sessions.
- Identify recurring quality issues and help improve QA processes.

Requirements
- 3+ years of professional Java experience in development, backend engineering, QA, code review, or technical mentoring.
- Strong knowledge of Java fundamentals, including OOP, collections, generics, streams, lambdas,



exceptions, concurrency, JVM behavior, and modern Java features.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to evaluate work against detailed rubrics.
- Experience with code review, QA, or technical mentoring is highly valued.
- Familiarity with Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, JDBC, Git, Docker, and CI/CD is preferred.
- Experience with AI training, LLM evaluation, data annotation, or rubric-based code review is a solid plus.
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
