Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluating patients’ medical histories and current health to determine their suitability for bone marrow transplants
- Diagnosing blood-related Malignant & non-Malignant disorders , such as anaemia, Severe aplastic anaemia, Bone marrow failure syndrome, leukemia (acute and chronic) Lymphoma Myeloma and other haematological malignancies.
- Explaining the risks, advantages and procedure of a bone marrow transplant to patients and their families and consenting.
Putting
Hickman (tunnelled line) line or any central line in the patients.
- Bone marrow aspiration and Intrathecal chemotherapy.
- Administering specialized therapies, such as blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement an individualized care plan for each patient
- Performing bone marrow transplants and follow-up care, including monitoring patients for complications and managing any adverse effects
- Conducting research to improve bone marrow transplant outcomes and contribute to the wider medical understanding of blood diseases
- Staying informed about the latest advancements in bone marrow transplant and haematological care
- Collaborating with haematologists, oncologists, and other medical professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Maintaining detailed medical records and communicating patient progress to other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care.
- Providing regular check-ups and follow-up care for patients with blood disorders.
- Educating patients and their families about post-transplant care, including medications, diet, and lifestyle modifications
- Participating in ethical discussions related to donor selection and consent, allocation of resources, and end-of-life care for transplant patients.
- Administrative and Clinical head of the department of BMT & Haematology.
