Job Purpose Responsible for monitoring and controlling welding activities at the shop floor, ensuring compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), welding quality requirements, customer specifications, and applicable standards. The role will also support welding documentation, welder qualification, weld testing, audits, new product development, and customer coordination related to welding.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor welding activities and ensure adherence to approved WPS, welding parameters, and quality requirements at welding workstations.
- Ensure effective implementation and follow-up of WPS at the shop floor.
- Prepare and maintain WPS, Welder Qualification Records (WQR/WPQ), weld mapping, and related welding documentation.
- Support new product development activities related to welding, including welding process planning and implementation.
- Develop and implement adaptive/control plans for customer-specific welding requirements.
- Monitor and ensure proper storage, handling, identification, traceability, and consumption of welding consumables at the shop floor.
- Coordinate preparation of weld test samples and production test coupons and witness testing at in-house as well as TPI laboratories.
- Prepare and maintain welding audit documents and participate in annual welding audits.
- Prepare and maintain Weld Books and ensure completeness and traceability of welding records.
- Review welding-related documents submitted to customers and coordinate with customers for technical clarifications, document review, and approvals.
- Ensure welding processes comply with applicable customer requirements, specifications, standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other relevant functions to resolve welding-related technical and quality issues.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in welding processes, quality, productivity, and compliance.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree in Fabrication &
- Welding / Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgy with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
- Diploma in Fabrication &
- Welding / Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgy with 5–10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience &

- Certifications:

- Pure welding / welding engineering experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in WPS, welder qualification, weld mapping, welding inspection, weld testing, consumable control,



and welding documentation will be preferred.
- Additional welding inspection qualification will be an added advantage, such as:
- AWS certification, or
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification.

Key Skills &

- Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of welding processes, parameters, WPS and welder qualification.
- Knowledge of welding inspection, testing, weld defects, and quality control.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Strong documentation and technical report preparation skills.
- Good coordination and communication skills for interaction with customers, TPI agencies, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Strong shop-floor orientation with attention to quality, traceability, and compliance.
- Problem-solving and analytical approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as cross-functionally.
