Job Title: Engine Design Engineer

Function: R&D; – Powertrain / Engine Engineering

Experience: 5–10 years

Location: Chennai

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering

Role Purpose,

Responsible for the design, development and engineering of engine components and systems, ensuring performance, reliability, manufacturability and compliance with applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities,

- Design and development of engine components such as cylinder head, cylinder block, crankshaft, connecting rod, piston, timing system, lubrication and cooling systems.
- Prepare 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T; and engineering specifications.
- Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up and basic engineering analysis.
- Work closely with CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and suppliers.
- Support DFMEA, design reviews, validation and verification activities.
- Analyse field failures and implement design improvements.




- Ensure designs meet cost, weight, performance, durability and reliability targets.
- Support prototype development, testing and productionisation.
- Manage engineering changes through appropriate ECR/ECN processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers for component development and technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant emission, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of IC engines / diesel / petrol engines.
- Engine component design and development.
- Proficiency in CATIA / Creo / UG-NX.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis and DFM/DFA.
- Understanding of FEA/CAE and engine testing.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and metallurgy.
- Valuable understanding of NVH, thermal management, lubrication and combustion fundamentals
