Job Title: Electrical Lab Faculty / Electrical Laboratory Instructor

Department: Electrical Engineering

Reporting To: Head of Department / Principal

Job Summary The Electrical Lab Faculty will be responsible for conducting practical laboratory sessions, demonstrating electrical concepts and experiments, guiding students in the protected operation of electrical equipment, and ensuring effective hands-on learning. The faculty member will maintain laboratory equipment, follow safety procedures, and support students in developing practical electrical engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct practical laboratory classes for Electrical Engineering students.
- Explain electrical concepts, circuits, measurements, and practical applications.
- Demonstrate electrical experiments and guide students during practical sessions.
- Train students in the use of electrical measuring instruments such as multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, wattmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Supervise experiments related to electrical machines, circuits, transformers, control systems, wiring, and measurements.
- Ensure proper operation and safe handling of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory records, experiment manuals, stock registers, and equipment logs.
- Check and maintain electrical tools, instruments, machines, and other laboratory equipment.
- Identify faulty equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance when required.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and laboratory safety procedures.
- Evaluate students' practical performance, assignments, records, and viva examinations.
- Prepare practical demonstrations, worksheets, assignments, and laboratory activities.
- Assist students with project work, practical examinations, and technical activities.
- Maintain discipline and cleanliness within the laboratory.
- Assist the Head of Department in laboratory planning,



procurement, and inventory management.
- Stay updated with current electrical technologies, equipment, and industry practices.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
- Good practical knowledge of electrical circuits and equipment.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
- Good communication and student-handling skills.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and practical manner.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with the teaching team.

Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- Relevant teaching or laboratory experience will be an advantage.

Experience
- 0–3 years of relevant experience may be considered for junior positions.
- Candidates with experience in electrical laboratories, technical institutes, engineering colleges, or industrial electrical maintenance will be preferred.

- Proper maintenance and availability of laboratory equipment.

Working Conditions
- Primarily laboratory-based.
- Regular interaction with students and faculty members.
- Requires adherence to electrical safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May require support during practical examinations, workshops, projects, and institute events.
