Job Summary
The organization is seeking an experienced Staff-level EDA / Software Operations Specialist to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of both EDA and enterprise software vendor engagements. This role serves as the primary liaison between engineering, procurement, finance, and legal functions to ensure that all vendor contracts, renewals, and purchase transactions are executed in a timely, compliant, and cost-effective manner. Given the scale and complexity of the vendor portfolio, the role requires strong project management discipline to track hundreds of concurrent threads across contracts, approvals, and stakeholders, along with excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively across cross-functional and often global teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete lifecycle of EDA and Software vendor contracts, including new agreements, renewals, extensions, and terminations, across multiple vendors and tool categories.
- Track license utilization, renewal timelines, and contract expiry dates across a large and diverse vendor portfolio, proactively initiating renewal discussions to avoid business disruption.
- Raise and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) for EDA tools, software licenses, and related services, ensuring accuracy of commercial terms, quantities, and cost centers.
- Partner with Finance teams to obtain budget approvals, validate cost allocations, and ensure alignment with departmental and organizational budgets.
- Coordinate with Legal teams to route vendor contracts, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and amendments through the appropriate review and clearance process.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing structures, and licensing models with EDA and Software vendors in collaboration with sourcing/procurement stakeholders, where applicable.
- Apply strong project management practices to simultaneously track hundreds of active threads, spanning contract negotiations, approval workflows, renewal deadlines, and stakeholder follow-ups, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
- Maintain accurate, well-organized, and up-to-date records of all vendor contracts, license entitlements, renewal schedules, and approval documentation.
- Serve as the key point of contact for internal engineering, IT, and design teams regarding EDA and software license availability, tool access issues, and procurement status.
- Communicate proactively and clearly with stakeholders across Engineering, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and vendor-side teams, providing regular status updates and escalating risks or delays in a timely manner.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation, license compliance, and adherence to organizational procurement policies.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, license right-sizing, and consolidation across EDA and software vendor contracts.
- Prepare periodic reports and dashboards on vendor spend, renewal pipeline, and vendor performance for management review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across geographies, given the global nature of EDA and software vendor relationships.
Required Skills and Experience
- 6 to 9 years of relevant experience in EDA Operations, Software Asset Management, IT Procurement, or a similar vendor/contract management function within a semiconductor or technology organization.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with EDA vendors and familiarity with common EDA licensing models (node-locked, floating, term-based licenses), as well as experience managing enterprise software vendor contracts.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, including purchase requisition and purchase order workflows within enterprise systems (e.g., SAP,
Oracle, Coupa, or similar).
- Working knowledge of contract lifecycle management, including experience coordinating with Legal teams on contract review and clearance.
- Experience partnering with Finance functions on budgeting, cost tracking, and invoice reconciliation.
- Strong project management skills, with proven ability to track and manage a high volume (hundreds) of parallel threads, deadlines, and stakeholder actions without losing accuracy or momentum.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey status, risks, and priorities to diverse stakeholders including senior management, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation practices.
- Ability to manage multiple vendor renewals and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced workplace.
- Bachelor s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus but not mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience specifically in a semiconductor design company or design services organization.
- Familiarity with license management tools (e.g., FlexLM/FlexNet) and license usage monitoring practices.
- Familiarity with project/task tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar) to manage high-volume workstreams.
- Exposure to global vendor contract negotiations across multiple regions.
- Formal project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
