: DBA / Data Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for skilled DBAs / Data Engineers to support data and database migration activities as part of a major carve-out. The role covers discovery, assessment, migration design, execution, validation, and post-migration support for databases and data platforms moving into the new target environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct database and data platform discovery: inventory, sizing, versions, configurations, dependencies, and data flows.
- Perform detailed assessments of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and data stores for migration readiness.
- Design and execute database migrations (logical/physical, online/offline, replication-based, or tool-assisted) with minimal business disruption.
- Develop and implement data migration strategies, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformation, cleansing, and validation rules where required.
- Handle schema conversion, object migration (tables, indexes, stored procedures, functions, jobs, etc.), and performance tuning in the target environment.
- Set up and manage replication, change data capture (CDC), or dual-write strategies to support parallel run and cutover.
- Perform data integrity checks, reconciliation, and sign-off with application and business owners.
- Collaborate closely with Application Engineers, Infrastructure, Security, and Network teams on connectivity, security, and performance requirements.




- Support cutover execution, hypercare, and knowledge transfer to the target operating model.
- Document source-to-target mappings, runbooks, backup/recovery procedures, and operational handover materials.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator and/or Data Engineer.
- Robust expertise in at least two major RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB).
- Proven experience in database migrations, upgrades, or large-scale data movement projects (ideally in M&A;, carve-out, or cloud migration contexts).
- Solid understanding of database high availability, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security (encryption, access control, auditing).
- Experience with data migration tools and techniques (native tools, AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service, GoldenGate, Attunity/Qlik, custom ETL, etc.).
- Scripting proficiency (T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with cloud database services (RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, Cloud SQL, etc.) and hybrid architectures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to data quality and consistency.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with clear communication of risks and status.
- Good experience in large SQL query tuning on big datasets ( Based on SQL execution plan / SQL profiling )
