Role Overview

We are looking for proactive, news-savvy, and detail-oriented Editorial Interns to join our fast-paced digital newsroom. As a writing intern at Vijaya Chronicle, you will work directly with our editorial and desk leads to research, draft, and publish real-time news stories, explainers, and feature articles.

This internship is designed to give you real-world, hands-on experience in digital media, search-optimized reporting, headline drafting, and digital newsroom workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- News & Beat Writing: Pitch, research, and write clean, engaging news articles across desks such as Local (Bangalore/Karnataka), Politics, Business, Technology, Cinema & Entertainment, and Global Affairs.
- Fact-Checking & Verifiability: Source information responsibly using verified secondary sources, official press releases, government bulletins, and wire services, adhering strictly to journalistic ethics.
- SEO & Headline Optimization: Craft compelling, accurate headlines and meta summaries to maximize reach and discoverability across search and social feeds.




- Content Management: Upload, format, and publish drafts using our digital publishing system, ensuring proper tagging, image sourcing, and readability standards.
- Trend Monitoring: Monitor emerging trends, viral stories, live market updates, and press briefings to identify timely news angles before they peak.

What We Are Looking For

- Educational Background: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Media Studies, Political Science, or a related field (enthusiastic self-taught writers with strong portfolios are welcome).
- Exceptional Writing Skills: Impeccable English grammar, clear narrative style, and an ability to distill complex news stories into concise, reader-friendly summaries.
- Curiosity & News Awareness: Passion for current events—from Bangalore civic and metro infrastructure to international geopolitics and pop culture.
- Speed & Accuracy: Ability to write under deadline pressure while maintaining strict standards for accuracy and attribution.
- Familiarity with Digital Media: Basic understanding of SEO concepts, digital publishing platforms/CMS, and responsible social media sourcing.
