Associate Business Analyst, Interoperability Operations
Level: Entry-Level

About the Role The Interoperability Operations Business Analyst is a key contributor to successful EMR integrations with provider practices, including data exchange services (e.g., HL7/FHIR, proprietary EMR APIs, CCDAs) and user-facing applications embedded within EMR workflows. This role focuses on operational analysis and support including data validation, reporting, dashboard development, and KPI tracking across interoperability product implementations and operations.
This role works closely with Interoperability Implementation Managers, Product Managers, Engineers, Technical Services, and other internal and external stakeholders. It's well suited to a recent graduate or candidate with 02 years of experience with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in healthcare data and EMR interoperability.
What You'll Do
Reporting & Dashboard Support
- Engage with the Interoperability Operations team to refine and support related processes and tools.
- Maintain Smartsheet dashboards, reports, and trackers.
- Update leadership dashboards to reflect accurate and current operational KPIs
- Create recurring, ad-hoc, and on-demand reports for stakeholders.
Business Intelligence Support
- Collect, organize, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Identify trends, gaps, conflicts, and other data quality issues.
- Support interoperability product managers and implementation managers with BI analysis, KPI tracking, and other reporting needs (e.g., SLA performance, milestone timelines).
- Investigate data issues to identify root cause and potential solutions.
Process & Operational Support
- Validate chart retrievals, task creation, data availability, and other integration-related processes needed during testing and primary source validation (PSV).
- Compare data received against what was expected and report findings.
- Support adoption of AI tools to modernize and improve the efficiency of data validation processes.
- Maintain documentation and knowledge articles related to BI reports, operational trackers/dashboards, data validation, and related tools.
- Monitor operational progress using available dashboards and trackers and identify gaps in current tooling.
- Identify, document, and escalate operational issues and data discrepancies.
- Assist with other operational and reporting needs as requested, working across a broad range of stakeholders and teams including Operations, Product, Customer Success, Engineering, Technical Services, and external users implementing EMR interoperability solutions.
- Join externally facing calls as directed (e.g., follow-up, data retrieval requests, findings review).
- Collaborate across teams on investigation and issue resolution.
- Help manage data validation project timelines, milestones, and delivery commitments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Data Analytics, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with core Microsoft Office suite, with strong Excel skills.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with project stakeholders, verbally and in writing.
- Adaptability to learn new tools and processes quickly.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- High ownership mindset and a bias toward independent work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to healthcare data and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, athenahealth, Medent, Cerner).
- Understanding of interoperability technology and processes (e.g., CCDs, FHIR, HL7 2.x, EMR app programs).
- Experience with SQL.
