Assistant Manager Logistics
Position Overview The Assistant Manager – Logistics leads end-to-end logistics operations across domestic and international shipments, ensuring full compliance with customs regulations, DGFT norms, GST rules, and INCOTERMS. This role drives efficient FTWZ handling, international packing standards, invoicing, gate operations, and EXIM procedures. Acting as a critical link between freight partners, customs authorities, and internal teams, the Assistant Manager achieves cost-effective, compliant cargo movement while executing continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics Operations &
- FTWZ Handling:
Oversee inbound and outbound operations, including FTWZ bonded storage, duty deferment, and re-export workflows. Plan air, sea, and express freight bookings for cost optimization and track shipments to clear delays.
- Import &
- Export Compliance:
Enforce compliance with customs regulations, HS Code classifications, DGFT guidelines, and INCOTERMS.
Manage
Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, Advance Licenses, EPCG schemes, and IE gate operations.
- Invoice &
- Waybill Management:
Prepare, verify, and maintain audit-ready commercial invoices, packing lists, and waybills aligned with customs, banking, and statutory requirements.
- Packing &
- Quality Standards:
Define and enforce ISPM-15, fumigation,
palletization, and barcoding standards to prevent transit damage. Ensure operational alignment with ISO 9001 and maintain 5S practices across logistics areas.
- Vendor &
- Stakeholder Coordination:
Negotiate freight rates, onboard and audit logistics service providers, and coordinate across internal departments (Production, Planning, Finance, Quality).
- KPI Management &
- Process Improvement:
Track core logistics metrics—Freight Cost, Transit Time, On-Time Delivery, and Customs Clearance Lead Time—to optimize operations.
Required Qualifications &
- Experience
- Experience: 8–10 years in logistics, EXIM operations, and supply chain management within manufacturing, automotive, or industrial engineering sectors.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Logistics Management.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with FTWZ handling, customs clearance, DGFT norms, and INCOTERMS.
- Systems: Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAGE or JD Edwards.
Preferred Attributes
- Professional certifications (CSCP, CILT, or EXIM Diploma).
- Experience operating within ISO-certified environments.
- Robust track record in freight negotiation and cost-optimization initiatives.
