Job Summary The Architect - Electrical & Electronics is responsible for shaping robust hardware and subsystem architectures that enable accurate, reliable, and compliant molecular diagnostic products. This role guides critical design and technology decisions to improve instrument performance, reduce technical risk, and accelerate solutions that strengthen patient outcomes.
This position reports to the Principal Electrical Engineer and is part of the Systems R&D; Software - IDC located in Bangalore and will be an in office role.
Responsibilities
- Define electrical hardware architecture, leading its integration with mechanical and firmware systems across connectivity, compute, user interface, pressure, vibration, optics and thermal domains.
- Influence components, topology, and technology selection through trade-off analyses involving performance, cost, power, size, EMI/EMC, and reliability.
- Define critical-to-quality and critical-to-function parameters and quantify performance against requirements.
- Advance technical roadmaps by evaluating alternative technologies and improving the robustness, reliability, and performance of critical subsystems.
- Support diagnostic instruments and devices throughout their lifecycle by addressing regulatory compliance, field issues, yield improvements, and cost optimization.
Essential requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline,
with 12+ years of experience in electrical hardware design and development for complex electromechanical products.
- Expertise in completing product certification for CE marking and electrical compliance standards such as IEC 61326-2-6, IEC 61000-3-x, 60601-1-2 and IEC 61010-1, and FCC Part 15 Subpart B.
- Hands-on proficiency with Cadence, Xpedition, or Altium design tool suites, including schematic design and printed circuit board layout review.
- Experience in designing and reviewing analog, digital, mixed-signal, power electronics, data-acquisition, and system power-distribution hardware.
- Experience in applying risk analysis, design FMEA, reliability engineering practices, signal and power integrity analysis, EMI/EMC compliance and hardware verification. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
- Ability to travel as required and collaborate with global internal and external stakeholders. Desirable/It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Board-level circuit design experience with FPGA-based embedded systems for motion control and/or data acquisition, including RTL development using Verilog or VHDL, is preferred.
- Prior experience with electronic hardware development for PCR or molecular diagnostic instruments is preferred.
