Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and facilitation of discovery and data architecture workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
Own the end-to-end architecture for the data platform programme, covering:
Data ingestion and integration
Data storage and management
Data transformation and processing
Security, identity, and access management
Azure platform foundations
Analytics, reporting, and visualization
Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Elicit, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements, technical constraints, dependencies, assumptions, and key architectural decisions.
Develop the High-Level Design (HLD) for the target Microsoft data platform and ensure alignment with business and technology objectives.
Establish architecture standards, principles, patterns, and best practices to provide explicit guidance for Low-Level Design (LLD) development.
Review and govern LLDs to ensure alignment with the approved HLD, identifying and resolving design gaps, risks, and deviations.
Define the target-state architecture across data ingestion, storage, processing, orchestration, serving, governance, security, analytics, and ML/AI layers.
Define appropriate architecture and usage patterns for Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, and other relevant Microsoft Azure services.
Develop the data migration strategy and blueprint, including migration patterns, sequencing, dependencies, reconciliation, cutover planning, rollback considerations, and risk mitigation.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineering, Microsoft Purview, Power BI, Security, Infrastructure, Analytics, and ML/AI teams, to ensure an integrated and scalable architecture.
Present architecture strategies, design recommendations, trade-offs, and key decisions to programme stakeholders, client leadership, and architecture review boards.
Provide ongoing architectural guidance to delivery teams throughout implementation, clarifying design decisions and resolving technical and architectural issues.
Identify architectural risks, dependencies, and prospects for optimization, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, governed, and aligned with Microsoft best practices.
