Role & responsibilities

- Handle procurement of maintenance spares, electrical items, electronic components, automation parts, and engineering materials.
- Understand technical requirements received from Maintenance, Engineering, Electrical, and Automation teams.
- Review and interpret technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, BOMs, part numbers, and equipment manuals.
- Identify the correct components based on technical specifications and application requirements.
- Source materials from suitable OEMs, authorized distributors, manufacturers, and reliable suppliers.
- Obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, technical compliance, delivery time, and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with technical departments for technical evaluation and approval of quotations.
- Ensure that purchased items meet the required specifications, make, model, rating, dimensions, and application.
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier base for maintenance and technical items.
- Negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing, payment terms, lead time, warranty, and other commercial conditions.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of critical maintenance spares.
- Coordinate with Stores and Maintenance teams regarding material receipt, shortages, wrong supplies, and quality issues.
- Handle urgent and breakdown-related procurement requirements on priority.
- Maintain proper records of RFQs, quotations,



purchase orders, supplier details, technical specifications, and purchase history.
- Develop alternate sources for critical and high-value spare parts to reduce dependency on a single supplier.
- Monitor market availability and identify equivalent or alternative components, subject to technical approval.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through vendor development, alternate sourcing, price negotiation, and standardization.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures and documentation requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

- Robust technical aptitude with the ability to understand maintenance requirements.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, and part numbers.
- Good knowledge of electrical, electronics, automation, and general engineering components.
- Ability to distinguish between technically suitable and unsuitable alternatives.
- Solid vendor sourcing and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and comparison skills.
- Ability to manage multiple requirements and prioritize critical/breakdown spares.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Strong follow-up and vendor management skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/Purchase systems.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
