Job Description for the COBOL Contractor positions.

- Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- 6+ year’s development/enhancement experience.
- Good Knowledge of MF-COBOL, JCL, Sort/Cosort, Linux/Unix, Shell scripting, Subversion, or similar code repository
- Knowledge of database- Oracle/DB2, etc and SQL
- Knowledge of XML, CICS etc. is an added advantage.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Understand, functional and technical requirements of software programs/ modules.
- Ability to work in an agile development setting where developers and testing personnel work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills working with technical and non-technical individuals.




- Develop and document optimal codes for complex program requirements.
- Develop codes for assigned unit of work/requirements within a program/module – functional & nonfunctional.
- Ensure delivery of defect free codes to the next level or review/ QA team
- Possess strong understanding of coding best practices.
- Adhere to timelines and processes while developing and documenting codes.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
- Ensure compliance to pre-defined coding best practices to meet quality and timelines of delivery.
