Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and technically oriented Trainee Engineer – Purchase to join our Purchase & Procurement team in a manufacturing environment.

The candidate will support day-to-day procurement activities, vendor coordination, quotation analysis, purchase order processing, material follow-up, and coordination with Production, Stores, Quality, Engineering, and Accounts teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in procurement of raw materials, mechanical components, engineering items, consumables, spares, and bought-out items.
- Understand material requirements raised by Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Stores.
- Identify and coordinate with existing and potential suppliers.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and prepare quotation comparison / Comparative Statements (CS).
- Assist in evaluating quotations based on price, quality, specifications, delivery, and commercial terms.
- Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO) as per company procedures.
- Follow up with vendors for order confirmation, production status, dispatch, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with Stores and Quality departments for material receipt, inspection, and clearance.
- Coordinate with Engineering for technical specifications, drawings, and material requirements.
- Assist in vendor development and supplier evaluation.
- Maintain vendor records, quotation files, PO records, delivery status, and other purchase documentation.




- Monitor pending purchase orders and prepare regular material follow-up reports / MIS.
- Support cost comparison and basic cost-saving / alternate-sourcing initiatives.
- Coordinate with Accounts/Finance regarding invoices and vendor payment-related documentation.
- Learn and use ERP/SAP purchase modules for procurement transactions and records.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production interruptions.
- Perform other purchase-related activities assigned by the Purchase Manager.

Required Skills

- Basic knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of mechanical components, raw materials, fabrication, machining, fasteners, tools, and engineering consumables will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of Purchase & Procurement processes.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of SAP/ERP will be an added advantage.
- Good communication and vendor coordination skills.
- Strong follow-up and negotiation aptitude.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a quick-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn and build a career in Purchase / Procurement / Supply Chain.

Freshers are encouraged to apply. Candidates with internship or industrial training exposure in Purchase, Procurement, Production, Stores, or Manufacturing will have an advantage.
