Job Description

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and quality nursing care to patients based on their individual healthcare needs. The role involves administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, assisting with diagnostic procedures, maintaining accurate patient records, and collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Responsibilities

- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on individual needs.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall clinical condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Provide appropriate nursing care and support to patients throughout their treatment.
- Assist patients with daily care needs while maintaining dignity, comfort, and safety.

Diagnostic & Clinical Support

- Assist doctors and healthcare professionals during diagnostic tests, procedures, and examinations.
- Prepare patients for procedures and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Observe patients during and after procedures and report any changes in condition promptly.
- Follow established clinical procedures and nursing protocols.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in patient records, both manual and electronic.
- Record vital signs, medications, treatments, observations, and patient progress accurately.




- Prepare and maintain nursing reports for effective continuity of care.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate important patient information to the incoming nursing team.

Communication & Team Collaboration

- Collaborate effectively with doctors, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate clearly with patients and their families regarding care plans, treatments, and progress.
- Provide appropriate health education and guidance to patients and their attendants.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Infection Control & Patient Safety

- Strictly adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Follow hospital safety protocols and established clinical guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care workplace.
- Properly segregate, handle, and dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital policies and applicable regulations.
- Report safety incidents, clinical concerns, and changes in patient condition promptly.

Qualifications

Education

- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Registration with the State Nursing Council.
- Relevant clinical experience will be an added advantage.
