Registered Staff Nurse – Obstetrics & Gynecology (Mid-Level & Senior)

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Mid-Level and Senior Staff Nurses to join our dedicated Women’s Health and Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) team.

In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care across the full maternity spectrum—including antenatal triage, labor and delivery, high-risk obstetrics, postpartum care, neonatal transition, and inpatient gynecological surgical recovery. Senior nurses will also take on clinical leadership, triage oversight, mentorship, and charge nurse responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Nursing Care (Mid-Level & Senior)

- Monitor, assess, and manage maternal and fetal well-being during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Interpret continuous and intermittent electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) strips; identify non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns and initiate intrauterine resuscitation protocols promptly.
- Assist obstetricians, midwives, and anesthesiologists during vaginal deliveries, operative deliveries (vacuum/forceps), and Cesarean sections (scrub and circulating support).
- Manage epidural infusions, IV medications (e.g., Pitocin, magnesium sulfate),



and emergency postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) interventions.
- Provide post-op care for routine and complex gynecological surgeries (e.g., hysterectomy, myomectomy, laparoscopy, pelvic floor repairs).
- Deliver patient and family education on breastfeeding/chestfeeding, newborn care, postpartum warning signs, and family planning.

Leadership & Quality Oversight (Senior Level Focus)

- Serve as Charge Nurse: manage patient throughput, bed assignments, staffing ratios, and shift coordination across L&D;, triage, and postpartum units.
- Act as clinical preceptor and mentor to junior staff, orientees, and nursing students.
- Lead obstetric emergency drills (e.g., shoulder dystocia, eclamptic seizures, maternal code, massive transfusion protocols).
- Participate in unit-based councils, root-cause analyses, and maternal-infant quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

General Requirements

- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State / Region] (or multistate compact license).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) — Required upon hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)



— Required or obtained within 6 months
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) — Required upon hire or within 90 days
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM or AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced) — Required

Experience Levels

- Mid-Level Staff Nurse: Minimum of 2–4 years of recent direct clinical nursing experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, or Inpatient OB/GYN.
- Senior Staff Nurse: Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated OB/GYN or L&D; experience, including demonstrated experience in charge nursing, preceptorship, or high-risk obstetrics. Specialized board certification (e.g., RNC-OB, C-EFM, RNC-MNN) preferred.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong clinical judgment in dynamic, high-acuity maternity emergencies.
- Competence in trauma-informed, culturally competent patient care and advocacy.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic Stork, Cerner).
- Clear interdisciplinary communication and crisis de-escalation skills.
