About the Role

We are looking for a Product Designer who can independently handle the complete product design process for luxury and commercial furniture. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of furniture design, dimensions, materials, manufacturing processes, and production feasibility.

The person will work closely with the management, customers, and production team to convert concepts and requirements into production-ready designs and drawings.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop new and customized designs for luxury and commercial furniture based on management/customer requirements.
- Prepare detailed product drawings with accurate dimensions, measurements, specifications, and material details.
- Modify existing designs based on customer requirements, site conditions, space constraints, or design changes.
- Convert concepts/ideas into practical and manufacturing-feasible designs.
- Prepare 2D/3D drawings, technical drawings, and working drawings for production.
- Coordinate closely with the Production, Purchase, Store, and other relevant teams to ensure designs are practically executable.
- Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for each product, including material specifications and quantities.
- Ensure proper material selection considering quality, durability, aesthetics, cost, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Review prototypes/samples and incorporate required design modifications.
- Provide clarification to the production team regarding drawings, dimensions, materials, and design specifications.




- Ensure that approved designs and revisions are properly documented and communicated to the concerned teams.
- Maintain a systematic database of product drawings, revisions, BOMs, and design specifications.
- Support the development of current products and improvement of existing products.
- Ensure designs meet the required standards of quality, functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of furniture design and manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of wood, plywood, MDF, laminates, veneer, metal, glass, hardware, upholstery, and other furniture materials.
- Strong knowledge of furniture dimensions, ergonomics, proportions, and measurements.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and convert them into practical designs.
- Ability to work independently from concept to production-ready drawing.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Good understanding of BOM preparation and material estimation.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Problem-solving and design-development skills.

Software Skills

The candidate should have hands-on experience with relevant design software such as:

- AutoCAD
- SketchUp / 3D Modelling Software
- SolidWorks / Inventor / similar software (added advantage)
- Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / similar software (added advantage)
- MS Excel for BOM and material-related documentation

Desired Profile

The ideal candidate should be someone who can take ownership of the complete product design cycle, understand the management's design concept, develop it with proper measurements and technical details, incorporate customer modifications, and coordinate with production until the product is successfully executed.

A practical, manufacturing-oriented designer with strong furniture knowledge will be preferred over a purely creative/visual designer.
