JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced General Manager to manage the overall operations of a large textile retail showroom with 200+ employees.
The GM will be responsible for sales, store operations, customer experience, inventory, visual merchandising, employee management, cost control and profitability. The ideal candidate should have strong experience handling a large retail team and should be capable of managing day-to-day showroom operations while achieving business targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Overall Showroom Operations
- Take complete responsibility for day-to-day showroom operations.
- Ensure smooth functioning of all departments and sections.
- Maintain operational standards, discipline and process compliance.
- Coordinate with management on business plans and operational requirements.
2. Sales & Business Growth
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Develop strategies to increase revenue, customer footfall and conversion.
- Monitor department-wise and salesperson-wise performance.
- Identify opportunities for business growth and improve sales productivity.
3. Team Management – 200+ Employees
- Lead and manage a large workforce of 200+ employees.
- Set KPIs and performance standards for department heads and teams.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Ensure proper manpower planning, deployment and productivity.
- Build a strong, customer-focused and performance-oriented team.
- Handle employee discipline, grievances and internal conflicts.
4. Customer Experience
- Ensure high standards of customer service across the showroom.
- Monitor customer feedback and complaints.
- Implement measures to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
- Ensure proper handling of VIP and high-value customers.
5. Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock availability and movement.
- Coordinate with purchase, warehouse and merchandising teams.
- Control stock loss, damages, pilferage and inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure proper stock planning based on sales trends and customer demand.
6. Visual Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Ensure attractive and organized product displays.
- Coordinate with the visual merchandising team for seasonal and promotional displays.
- Maintain showroom presentation according to brand standards.
7. Financial & Cost Management
- Monitor showroom expenses and operating costs.
- Improve productivity and control unnecessary expenses.
- Monitor department-wise profitability and performance.
- Work closely with finance/accounts teams on budgets and financial reporting.
8. HR & Administration
- Coordinate with HR for recruitment, manpower planning and employee retention.
- Ensure proper attendance, shift management and leave practices.
- Support training and development initiatives.
- Maintain discipline and company policies across the showroom.
9. MIS & Reporting
- Review daily, weekly and monthly sales reports.
- Monitor KPIs including sales, conversion, average bill value, footfall and productivity.
- Present performance reports and business updates to management.
- Use data to identify gaps and take corrective actions.
10. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.
- Maintain showroom safety, security and emergency procedures.
- Coordinate with security and facility teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Must Have:
- 12+ years of relevant retail experience.
- Experience in textile / fashion / departmental store / large-format retail.
- Proven experience managing 200+ employees.
- Strong track record of achieving sales targets.
- Experience handling multiple departments/sections.
- Strong exposure to retail operations, inventory and customer service.
Preferred:
- Experience with reputed textile retail chains.
- Experience managing a showroom with high daily footfall.
- Experience handling multiple departments such as sarees, menswear, womenswear, kidswear, jewellery/accessories, etc.
- Experience with ERP/POS/retail management systems.
- Strong exposure to retail expansion or new showroom setup.
