Role Description

The PCBA Should Costing Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Hyderabad. This role involves performing PCBA should-cost analysis and developing accurate cost models covering components, materials, manufacturing, testing, and related processes. The engineer collaborates with engineering, sourcing, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and clients to identify cost reduction opportunities, support VAVE initiatives, and provide cost inputs during product development and supplier negotiations. Daily activities include reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs, estimating part and process costs, benchmarking supplier quotes, conducting teardown analysis, preparing cost reports, and maintaining cost databases and estimation tools.



The role also includes spend analysis, component obsolescence, engineering change projects, strategic sourcing support, and continuous improvement of costing methodologies.

Qualifications

- BE/BTech/ME/MTech in ECE, EEE, E&I;, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, costing, cost engineering, or engineering change management.
- Strong understanding of SMT, PTH/through-hole, CAM, DFM, PFMEA, testing, and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Experience in PCBA should-costing, component cost estimation, supplier negotiations, teardown benchmarking, and VAVE/cost reduction.
- Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and manufacturing data.
- Experience with aPriori or similar should-costing and estimation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis and spreadsheets.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and clients.
- Attention to detail, structured documentation, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Good to Have

- Knowledge of GENESIS, INCAM, CAM350, and AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience in product performance testing.
- Experience with PCB/PCBA teardown and benchmarking.
- Exposure to strategic sourcing and supplier cost analysis.
