About the Role

We are looking for an experienced API Purchase / Sourcing / Procurement Executive to manage the sourcing and procurement of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for our pharmaceutical business serving international markets, particularly Africa and Southeast Asia.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in API sourcing, supplier/vendor development, price negotiation, purchase coordination and API documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and develop reliable API manufacturers, suppliers and vendors.
- Source APIs based on product, quantity, quality, commercial and customer requirements.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations, pricing, MOQ, lead time and payment terms.
- Negotiate API prices and commercial terms with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of API manufacturers and suppliers in India.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, availability, lead time and reliability.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and Regulatory teams for supplier and product documentation.
- Follow up for API-related documents such as COA, GMP certificates, specifications, MSDS/SDS and other required documents.
- Coordinate for samples, technical documents and quality approvals wherever required.
- Prepare purchase-related comparisons, quotations, purchase orders and supplier records.
- Monitor supplier commitments, production status,



dispatch schedules and delivery timelines.
- Develop alternative suppliers to ensure continuous API availability and competitive pricing.
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Coordinate with Sales, QA/QC, Regulatory, Logistics and Accounts teams for smooth order execution.
- Support API sourcing requirements for international business involving African and Southeast Asian markets.
- Maintain proper records of suppliers, prices, negotiations, purchase orders and procurement activities.
- Ensure timely procurement of APIs while maintaining required quality and commercial standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in B.Pharm, M.Pharm, B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry or a relevant pharmaceutical/chemical field.
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in API Purchase, API Procurement or API Sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical APIs and API manufacturers/suppliers.
- Experience in supplier identification and vendor development.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
- Understanding of API pricing, MOQ, lead time, payment terms and supply planning.
- Basic understanding of COA, GMP, specifications, MSDS/SDS and API quality documentation.




- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valuable command of English for professional communication.
- Strong follow-up, coordination and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with multiple suppliers and manage procurement requirements within timelines.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in:

- API procurement from Indian manufacturers
- API sourcing for export/international business
- Pharmaceutical raw material procurement
- Supplier/vendor development
- API price negotiation
- Africa / Southeast Asia market requirements
- Working with QA/QC and Regulatory teams

will be preferred.

Important Requirement

Candidates must have practical experience in API Purchase / Sourcing / Procurement.

Candidates with only general purchase, stationery purchase, packaging purchase or non-pharmaceutical procurement experience will not be considered for this position.
