Job Description

Position: Consultant / Senior Consultant – Orthopedics (Joint Replacement & Trauma)

Department: Orthopedics & Joint Replacement

Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Medical Director / HOD

Job Summary

Responsible for providing comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for complex musculoskeletal conditions, focusing on primary/revision joint replacements (Hip & Knee) and emergency trauma management. Manages OPD, IPD, surgical procedures, and post-operative rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

- Surgical Care: Perform primary and revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA), total hip arthroplasty (THA), and complex trauma surgeries (fracture fixations, polytrauma, and open injuries).

- Clinical Management: Conduct OPD consultations, evaluate patients for joint disease and traumatic injuries, and oversee inpatient care, daily rounds, and post-operative recovery plans.

- Emergency & Trauma Response: Lead emergency orthopedic trauma cases, perform damage control surgery, and manage acute musculoskeletal injuries.





- Rehabilitation & Follow-up: Coordinate with physiotherapists and rehabilitation teams to optimize patient recovery protocols and mobility outcomes.

- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain exact surgical records, patient notes, and discharge summaries in alignment with clinical audit standards and hospital policy.

Education

MBBS + MS / DNB in Orthopedics (Fellowship in Joint Replacement preferred)

Registration

Active State Medical Council / National Medical Commission (NMC) registration

Experience

2 to 7+ years post-MS/DNB with documented surgical logbook of independent joint and trauma procedures

Core Skills

Arthroplasty precision, complex fracture management, emergency surgical triage, patient communication, and post-op care management
