JOB DESCRIPTION – MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

About the Role

Jai Roop Textiles Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a skilled and responsible Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to manage the mechanical maintenance of textile and production machinery.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth machine operation, minimizing breakdowns, carrying out preventive maintenance, and maintaining mechanical equipment in positive working condition.

Key Responsibilities1. Machine Maintenance

- Handle day-to-day mechanical maintenance of textile and production machinery.
- Attend mechanical breakdowns and restore machines to normal operation.
- Inspect and maintain bearings, gears, shafts, rollers, belts, chains, couplings, pulleys and other mechanical components.
- Identify mechanical problems and carry out necessary repairs.
- Ensure machines operate safely and efficiently.

2. Preventive Maintenance

- Prepare and follow daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance schedules.
- Carry out regular inspection, lubrication and servicing of machines.
- Check machine alignment, vibration, temperature and abnormal noise.
- Replace worn-out mechanical components before major breakdowns.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records.

3. Breakdown & Troubleshooting

- Respond quickly to machine breakdowns.
- Identify the root cause of mechanical failures.
- Carry out emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.




- Analyze repeated breakdowns and recommend permanent corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production and electrical teams during major breakdowns.

4. Utility & Plant Equipment

- Maintain mechanical utility equipment such as:
- Air compressors
- Pumps
- Motors and mechanical drive systems
- Cooling systems
- Boilers and related mechanical equipment, where applicable
- Material handling equipment
- Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities.

5. Spare Parts & Inventory

- Identify and maintain stock of critical mechanical spare parts.
- Prepare requirements for bearings, belts, chains, gears, seals and other components.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers.
- Maintain records of spare-parts consumption.

6. Team Management

- Supervise fitters, technicians and maintenance workers.
- Allocate daily maintenance work.
- Monitor the quality and completion of maintenance jobs.
- Guide technicians in proper troubleshooting and repair methods.

7. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure safe working practices during mechanical maintenance.
- Ensure proper machine isolation before maintenance.
- Check machine guards and safety arrangements.
- Ensure technicians use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a clean and safe maintenance area.

8. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain daily machine breakdown reports.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records.




- Track machine downtime and major breakdowns.
- Prepare maintenance reports for management.
- Monitor maintenance costs and spare-parts usage.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical maintenance.
- Good knowledge of bearings, gears, shafts, belts, chains, pumps and mechanical drives.
- Strong breakdown troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Good knowledge of machine alignment and lubrication practices.
- Good team-management and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during production breakdowns.

Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

3–7 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing mechanical maintenance.

Experience in a textile manufacturing company will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate

- Experience in textile machinery maintenance.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience managing fitters/technicians.
- Good knowledge of preventive maintenance.
- Experience with compressors, pumps and other plant utilities.
- Willingness to work in shifts when required.

Salary

₹25,000 – ₹30,000 per month, depending on experience, technical knowledge and suitability.
