Atlassian Platform Architect
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Atlassian Platform Architect to design, implement, and continuously improve our organisation’s Atlassian platform ecosystem, including Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), and related applications and integrations.
This is a hands-on architecture and implementation role. The candidate will work closely with Engineering, Product, QA, PMO, IT, Support, and Leadership teams to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, integrated Atlassian solutions.
The role will focus on building an integrated platform that supports engineering delivery, requirements management, end-to-end traceability, portfolio and program governance, planning and capacity management, service management, automation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery workshops and translate business and technical requirements into scalable Atlassian solution architectures.
- Design and implement solutions across Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), Jira Product Discovery, Jira Plans, and relevant Marketplace applications.
- Configure projects, issue hierarchies, workflows, approvals, permissions, automation, boards, dashboards, and quality controls.
- Establish end-to-end traceability across requirements, engineering work, source code, testing, defects, releases, and governance approvals.
- Design Confluence information architecture, templates, approval workflows, and Jira integrations.
- Design and implement JSM portals, request types, workflows, queues, SLAs, approvals, Assets, and knowledge management.
- Integrate Atlassian products with GitHub, CI/CD tools, Microsoft Teams, identity platforms, reporting tools, and other enterprise systems.
- Configure Jira Plans and portfolio structures to support dependencies, milestones, releases, capacity planning, and scenario planning.
- Design and implement automation for workflow controls, approvals, notifications, alerts, roll-ups, and data-quality management.
- Establish and maintain platform governance covering configuration standards, permissions, administration practices, change control, and Marketplace applications.
- Lead solution testing, UAT, migration, deployment, documentation, training, and platform handover.
- Maintain solution architecture documents, workflow and integration documentation, configuration guides, and administration runbooks.
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve platform adoption, strengthen traceability, and increase automation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in Atlassian platform architecture, administration, implementation, or solution design.
- Strong hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management (JSM).
- Experience with Jira Plans, Jira Product Discovery, and Atlassian Marketplace applications.
- Strong understanding of Jira workflows, issue hierarchies, schemes, permissions, automation, dashboards, and reporting.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale Atlassian solutions and integrations.
- Hands-on experience integrating Atlassian with tools such as GitHub, CI/CD platforms, Microsoft Teams, identity management systems, and reporting platforms.
- Experience with JSM features including portals, request types, queues, SLAs, approvals, Assets, and knowledge management.
- Strong understanding of requirements management, engineering workflows, traceability, release management, and portfolio/program governance.
- Experience in platform migration, UAT, deployment, documentation, and user training.
- Solid problem-solving and solution-design capabilities.
