Job Title: VMware / Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Experience: 1+ Year

We are looking for a VMware / Infrastructure Operations Engineer with hands-on experience in virtualization, infrastructure monitoring, incident management, hardware troubleshooting, and operational support.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of VMware infrastructure and be comfortable performing initial troubleshooting, monitoring infrastructure health, following operational runbooks, and coordinating with senior infrastructure teams when required.

Key Responsibilities

VMware Virtualization

- Administer and support VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, clusters, and virtual machines.
- Perform infrastructure health checks.
- Manage datastores and virtual networking.
- Validate provisioned infrastructure resources.
- Assist with VM availability and infrastructure-related troubleshooting.

Provisioning & Automation

- Provision virtual machines through management consoles, CLI tools, scripts, and Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Configure CPU, memory, disk, and networking requirements.
- Validate VM builds after provisioning.
- Follow standardized provisioning procedures to reduce configuration errors.

Monitoring & Observability

- Monitor infrastructure using tools such as New Relic and PagerDuty.
- Review alerts, infrastructure health signals, capacity thresholds, and service-impact indicators.
- Perform initial analysis of infrastructure alerts and determine required actions.

Incident Management & ITSM

- Perform initial incident diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Categorize incidents and determine severity based on business and service impact.
- Create and maintain high-quality incident tickets.




- Execute predefined SOPs and runbooks.
- Maintain accurate incident timelines, troubleshooting actions, and resolution details.

Hardware Troubleshooting

- Perform initial troubleshooting for CPU, memory, NIC, HBA, storage-device, and power-supply issues.
- Interpret hardware health events and alerts.
- Coordinate hardware remediation with relevant infrastructure or datacenter teams.

Out-of-Band Management

- Work with remote management technologies including:
- IPMI
- KVM
- HPE iLO
- Dell iDRAC
- Perform remote health checks, log collection, and basic recovery activities.

Storage Operations

- Understand and support VMFS and NFS datastores.
- Monitor storage capacity utilization.
- Review performance indicators and threshold alerts.
- Identify storage risks and escalate issues to appropriate storage teams.

Security Operations

- Monitor SSL/TLS certificate expiration.
- Understand basic PKI and certificate-renewal processes.
- Perform initial vulnerability triage using CVE and CVSS information.
- Review security and audit logs for initial investigation.
- Escalate security findings based on established procedures.

Escalation & Communication

- Collect relevant logs, diagnostics, screenshots, and supporting evidence.
- Assess infrastructure and service impact.
- Document troubleshooting findings clearly.




- Provide structured handoffs to T2, SRE, Storage, Network, Security, and Datacenter teams.
- Maintain clear communication throughout incidents and escalations.

Operational Documentation

- Follow established SOPs and runbooks.
- Maintain accurate tickets and operational records.
- Document actions performed, evidence collected, outcomes, and handover notes.
- Support continuous improvement of operational documentation.

Required Skills

- 1+ year of experience in Infrastructure / VMware Operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter and ESXi.
- Understanding of VMs, clusters, datastores, and virtual networking.
- Familiarity with VMFS and NFS storage.
- Experience or understanding of monitoring tools such as New Relic and PagerDuty.
- Basic knowledge of incident management and ITSM processes.
- Understanding of server hardware troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of iLO, iDRAC, IPMI, or KVM.
- Basic understanding of SSL/TLS certificates and PKI.
- Awareness of CVE/CVSS and vulnerability management.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs, runbooks, and defined escalation procedures.

Valuable to Have

- Basic scripting or automation knowledge.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience working in 24x7 infrastructure operations or NOC environments.
- Understanding of Network, Storage, Security, and Datacenter operations.
- Exposure to enterprise ITSM tools.
