Job Title: Registered Staff Nurse – Psychiatry

Job Summary

Mercy Hospital, Pothy, Thalayolaparambu, Kottayam is looking for qualified and experienced Registered Staff Nurses to join our Psychiatry Department. We are seeking 2 Registered Staff Nurses who are compassionate, patient-focused, and committed to providing safe and quality nursing care to patients with mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive nursing care to psychiatric patients according to hospital policies and clinical protocols.
- Monitor patients' physical and mental health conditions and report changes to the concerned medical team.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate nursing records.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and therapeutic programmes.
- Maintain a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Ensure patient confidentiality, dignity and safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families and the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, doctors and other healthcare professionals for effective patient care.
- Maintain proper documentation and nursing records.
- Follow infection control, patient safety and hospital quality standards.





Qualifications & Requirements

- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the appropriate Nursing Council.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Psychiatry, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Good clinical knowledge and nursing skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work in shifts as per hospital requirements.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in psychiatric nursing and mental healthcare.
- Knowledge of patient counselling and behavioural management.
- Ability to handle psychiatric patients professionally and calmly.
- Valuable teamwork and communication skills.
