Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced WordPress Plugin Developer to design, build, and maintain high-quality, custom WordPress plugins for our clients. This role requires strong expertise in PHP-based backend development, a deep understanding of the WordPress plugin architecture and APIs, and the ability to write secure, scalable, and well-documented code that extends WordPress functionality..
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress plugins from scratch based on project requirements.
- Extend and customize existing plugins to meet specific client needs.
- Work extensively with WordPress core APIs, including Hooks, Actions, Filters, Shortcodes, Widgets, Custom Post Types, and REST API.
- Implement plugin functionality using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including AJAX).
- Ensure plugins are compatible with the latest WordPress core updates, popular themes, and third-party plugins.
- Optimize plugin code for performance, scalability, and productive database queries.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues related to plugin functionality, conflicts, and performance.
- Implement security best practices to protect plugins against vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, nonce verification, input sanitization).
- Write clean, well-documented, and reusable code following WordPress coding standards.
- Test plugins across different WordPress versions, browsers, and environments before deployment.
- Stay up to date with the latest WordPress plugin development standards, security practices, and industry trends.
- Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven work experience as a WordPress Plugin Developer with at least [2-4] years of experience.
- Strong expertise in PHP and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Solid understanding of MySQL and database management within the WordPress environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the WordPress Plugin API, Hooks, Filters, and Custom Post Types/Taxonomies.
- Experience developing and consuming the WordPress REST API.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Familiarity with WordPress coding standards and best practices for plugin security.
- Experience publishing or maintaining plugins on the WordPress.org repository is a plus.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation for plugin usage and features.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, designers, and clients in a team environment.
