B.Sc. Nurse – Roles & Responsibilities

Position: Campus Nurse / Staff Nurse

- Provide first aid and basic nursing care to students and staff during illness, injury, or medical emergencies.
- Assess patients’ general health condition and monitor vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and SpO₂ when required.
- Attend to minor injuries, wounds, headaches, fever, fainting, and other common health complaints.
- Provide immediate care during emergencies and coordinate with hospitals, ambulance services, parents/guardians, or emergency contacts when necessary.
- Maintain a proper medical/health record for students and staff who seek medical assistance.
- Administer medicines or treatments only as prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner and in accordance with institutional policy.
- Monitor students/staff who require observation or follow-up care and advise them to consult a doctor when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Duty Medical Officer / visiting doctor for cases requiring medical consultation.
- Maintain and regularly check the campus first-aid box, emergency medicines, medical equipment, and other essential supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, infection-control practices, and proper disposal of medical waste in the nursing/first-aid room.




- Provide basic health education and awareness programmes on hygiene, nutrition, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Support health camps, vaccination programmes, medical check-ups, and other campus health initiatives.
- Assist during college events, sports activities, examinations, and other programmes where medical support may be required.
- Identify students or staff who may require urgent medical attention and ensure timely referral to an appropriate healthcare facility.
- Maintain confidentiality of students’ and staff members’ medical information.
- Prepare daily/monthly medical activity reports and submit them to the concerned university authority.
- Coordinate with HR, Administration, Student Affairs, Hostel, and Security teams regarding health-related requirements and emergencies.
- Maintain skilled conduct and ensure compassionate, respectful, and non-discriminatory care to all students and staff.
- Follow university policies, nursing standards, safety procedures, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Perform any other health-related duties assigned by the University Management / Registrar / Administrative Authority.
