About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Backend Data Engineer based in India to own and manage the data ingestion pipelines and integrations that power our platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has worked in a production software/SaaS environment and has strong experience building and supporting data pipelines, API integrations, SFTP workflows, web scraping solutions, and cloud-based data processing.

You will work closely with our U.S.-based Client Success, Product, and Front-End Development teams, translating business and customer requirements into reliable, scalable data solutions.

Because this role involves significant collaboration with U.S.-based team members and clients, candidates must be comfortable working U.S. Eastern Time (EST/ET) hours from India on a regular basis.

What You'll Do

- Build, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot production data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines across APIs, SFTP feeds, web sources, files, and other external systems.
- Design and maintain SFTP-based data transfer workflows with customers and external partners.
- Build and maintain production-grade web scrapers and extraction scripts, including solutions for energetic websites, rate limiting, proxy rotation, retries, and common anti-bot mechanisms.
- Develop, consume, and maintain REST APIs for internal systems and external partner integrations.
- Use Azure Blob Storage to stage, store, organize, and process raw data such as JSON, CSV, and other file formats.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing logic, primarily in Azure SQL or comparable relational databases.
- Ingest raw, inconsistent, or semi-structured data and transform it into reliable, normalized datasets.
- Partner directly with Client Success to onboard new customer data sources and troubleshoot data-related issues.




- Collaborate with Product and Front-End Engineering teams to deliver backend data capabilities required for new product features.
- Monitor pipeline reliability, failures, latency, performance, and cloud infrastructure costs.
- Implement validation, logging, monitoring, retry, and error-handling processes to maintain data quality and pipeline reliability.
- Use modern AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Apply AI/LLM and document-processing technologies where appropriate for intelligent data extraction and processing.
- Create and maintain transparent technical documentation covering pipelines, integrations, data flows, APIs, and operational processes.

Required Qualifications

- 6+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, Data Integration, or a closely related role.
- Relevant industry experience working with production data systems, preferably within SaaS, FinTech, financial services, accounting, banking, or another data-intensive software environment.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting production data ingestion pipelines.
- Strong experience with SFTP workflows and file-based data integrations – this is a must-have.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data transformations, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL or comparable relational database platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Blob Storage, including staging and organizing raw JSON, CSV, and other externally sourced data.
- Production experience building web scrapers, including handling dynamic content, rate limiting, retries, proxies, and common scraping blockers.




- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and troubleshooting third-party API integrations.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C#, or a comparable backend language.
- Experience working with raw, inconsistent, or semi-structured data and converting it into normalized, usable formats.
- Experience using AI tools as part of day-to-day engineering work, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, LLM APIs, Azure AI services, or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate production data issues.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with U.S.-based technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be able and willing to consistently work U.S. Eastern Time (EST/ET) hours from India.

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Familiarity with proxy management and rotation strategies for web scraping.
- Experience with document ingestion and extraction, including PDFs, invoices, statements, and other semi-structured documents.
- Experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence, OCR, LLM-based extraction, or comparable technologies.
- Experience working with financial, accounting, or banking data, including transactions, bank feeds, statements, reconciliation, or financial reporting.
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar warehouse/lakehouse technologies.
- Experience supporting customer-facing data integrations in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Previous experience working remotely with U.S.-based teams and clients across time zones.

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per month
