JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition: Unit Finance Controller
Hotel: Saaz Hotel, Indore
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: General Manager
Location: Indore, Madhya Pradesh
Position Summary
The Unit Finance Controller will be responsible for managing and controlling the complete financial and accounting operations of Saaz Hotel, ensuring financial accuracy, robust internal controls, statutory compliance, timely reporting, cost optimization, and effective financial support to hotel operations.
The role will work closely with the General Manager and Heads of Departments to drive profitability, improve financial discipline, safeguard hotel assets, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage the day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the hotel.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, MIS and management reports.
- Monitor hotel revenue, expenses, profitability and cash flow.
- Analyse actual performance against budget, forecast and previous periods.
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and recommendations to management.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with all departments.
- Prepare operating budgets, CAPEX budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor departmental budgets and identify significant variances.
- Work with HODs to develop corrective action plans for unfavorable variances.
- Support management in business planning and financial decision-making.
3. Revenue & Income Control
- Ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of all hotel revenue streams.
- Review daily revenue reports and ensure accuracy of room, F&B;, banquet, events and other operating revenues.
- Monitor discounts, complimentary transactions, voids, allowances and rebates.
- Ensure proper controls over cash, credit cards, online payments and other collections.
- Review city ledger, guest ledger and outstanding receivables regularly.
4. Cost Control & Inventory
- Establish and monitor effective cost-control procedures.
- Review food, beverage and other operating costs against budgets and benchmarks.
- Ensure proper controls over purchasing, receiving, storage and issue of inventory.
- Monitor stock levels, slow-moving items, wastage and discrepancies.
- Ensure regular physical verification of inventory and fixed assets.
- Work closely with the Purchase, Stores and F&B; teams to improve cost efficiency.
5. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Supervise vendor payments and ensure proper documentation and authorization.
- Monitor supplier outstanding balances and payment schedules.
- Ensure timely collection and reconciliation of receivables.
- Review vendor invoices, purchase orders, GRNs and supporting documents.
- Maintain proper accounting records and vendor reconciliations.
6. Cash & Banking
- Ensure proper control over hotel cash handling and cash deposits.
- Review daily cash reports and bank reconciliations.
- Monitor petty cash and ensure adherence to approved limits.
- Ensure timely banking of collections.
- Investigate and resolve cash or banking discrepancies.
7. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, taxation and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate GST, TDS and other applicable statutory filings and payments.
- Maintain proper documentation for statutory and tax audits.
- Coordinate with external auditors, consultants and government authorities whenever required.
- Ensure compliance with company finance policies and internal control procedures.
8. Internal Controls & Audit
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls across hotel operations.
- Conduct periodic reviews of finance-related processes and identify control weaknesses.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs and company policies.
- Coordinate internal, statutory and financial audits.
- Track audit observations and ensure timely closure of action points.
- Safeguard company assets and minimize the risk of fraud, leakage and financial loss.
9. Team Management
- Lead, supervise and develop the Finance & Accounts team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Ensure proper training on accounting procedures, hotel systems and internal controls.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability and financial discipline.
10. Business Partnership
- Act as a financial business partner to the General Manager and operational HODs.
- Provide financial insights to support revenue and profitability decisions.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Participate in operational meetings and provide financial perspectives.
- Support management in evaluating new initiatives, contracts and investments.

Qualification
- CA / CMA preferred.
- Alternatively, MBA Finance / M.Com / B.Com with relevant hotel finance experience.
Experience
- Preferably 5–8 years of relevant experience in hotel finance/accounts.
- Experience in a hotel/resort environment will be strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting, revenue control, cost control and statutory compliance.

Authority & Accountability
The Unit Finance Controller is accountable for maintaining the financial integrity of the hotel, ensuring effective internal controls, providing accurate financial information to management, and supporting the hotel in achieving its revenue, profitability and operational objectives.
Pay: ₹43,583.80 - ₹55,000.00 per month
