General Manager – Coal Mining Operations

The Company

Our client is a diversified conglomerate with operations across Southeast Asia and a strong presence across the energy, oil & gas, fuel trading, logistics, and distribution sectors. As part of its resource development strategy, the Group is expanding its mining portfolio across coal, antimony, and gold, with a focus on sustainable extraction, efficient production, and long-term mineral resource development.

The Position

Based in Yangon and reporting to senior Group leadership, the General Manager – Mining will lead the overall development, operational performance, and commercial strategy of the Group’s mining portfolio.

The role will oversee exploration, mine development, production planning, extraction, mineral processing, logistics, and commercialization across multiple mining sites. Key priorities will include expanding resource reserves, improving production efficiency, strengthening operating systems, achieving production targets, and building reliable domestic and regional market channels for coal, antimony, gold,



and other mineral outputs.

The General Manager will also oversee operational budgets, CAPEX programs, project development, mining licenses, environmental and HSE compliance, while maintaining strong relationships with regulators, local stakeholders, strategic partners, and communities.

The Person

We are looking for a senior mining executive with significant experience leading large-scale and multi-site mining operations, ideally across coal and metal resources such as gold, antimony, base metals, or precious metals.

Candidates should bring solid technical knowledge across exploration, mine development, extraction, production, and mineral processing, combined with the commercial capability to develop market channels for mineral commodities. Experience improving production performance, managing operational budgets and capital projects, and leading multidisciplinary mining teams will be important.

Experience operating in emerging or frontier markets would be highly advantageous, together with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage effectively with regulators, partners, and local communities.
