Manager - Embedded Software & Tools India Required Travel: 0 - 20% Job Description: The Embedded Software Engineering group designs, implements, and tests embedded software for powertrain controls and development tools at Allison Transmission. The Manager, Embedded Software & Tools role manages a group of software developers and manages projects related to software, tools, process, and other capability. This role is focused on building & managing a capability in India which interfaces closely with a corresponding US-based team. **Key Responsibilities:** + Build & manage a team of software developers who design, develop, test and document embedded control system software for Powertrain applications and associated tools. + Perform hands-on functional and unit testing, system validation, automated testing, and requirement to test traceability + Work with cross-functional engineering teams of Systems, Algorithm, Calibration and Validation engineers to develop existing and new products + Develop software designs and design documentation & standards + Shall be flexible to work to have an overlap with Eastern Standard Time zone for few hour as and when needed + Analyze software behavior to find root cause for unexpected or unacceptable operation + Describe & present work results to peers and managers as needed + Archive work products to document process compliance and for future maintenance needs + Develop, enhance, deploy, and maintain software development, software test, and coding best practices which are applicable globally to controls software organizations working on any Allison products + Conduct reviews, audits,



tests and other SQA activities to ensure compliance to Allison software development standards + Other duties as assigned **Key Performance Measures:** + Leads regional software engineering initiatives and builds software development capabilities from the India technical center + Encourages team by addressing barriers and conflicts to achieve departmental requirements. + Evaluates & executes synergy opportunities across business unit operations & products within the software domain. + Shows critical thinking, and decision-making ability to achieve various engineering initiatives. + Integrates & influences existing ecosystems by thoroughly understanding the software controls, the controls system roles which interact with software, and process/tool chain developers. **Qualifications:** + BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience + Ability to read & write software, control system requirements,



and validation plans + Robust oral and written business communication skills in written & spoken English + Ability to organize & manage multiple software development & testing projects simultaneously **Experience:** **Required:** + 5+ years of software engineering experience + Project/Program manager role in multiple multi-disciplinary projects + Experience budgeting/forecasting expenses. + Demonstrated history of teamwork and cross-functional leadership + Experience working with global teams of engineers **Preferred:** + Master's degree Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science + 10+ years of experience in automotive and/or commercial on-/off- highway vehicle industry + Exposure to India's automotive controls, validation, and/or supply chain ecosystem + Engineering leadership/management experience + Experience with C/C++ or other compiled software languages + Simulink/StateFlow/MathWorks software or model development + Experience with software version control & change management + Experience with software quality processes & tools, such as CMMI, SPICE, Autosar + Experience with in-circuit debuggers like Lauterbach Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
