ABOUT BUYMYEV
buymyEV is an electric two-wheeler (2W) mobility company building battery-electric commuter scooters (L1/L2 category).
We are in an active build phase across product development, manufacturing, R&D; infrastructure and org scaling, with a
pipeline of 3–4 vehicle models targeting an annual production of 50,000–100,000 units and global expansion plans over the
next 2–3 years.

ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in plastic component design to own the
design, development and industrialization of plastic and composite parts for our electric scooter platforms — including
body panels, fascia, under-body components, storage/utility parts, and functional brackets/housings. The role sits at the
intersection of design, DFM/DFA, tooling and supplier development, and is critical to hitting cost, quality and program
timelines across multiple vehicle programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and develop injection-molded plastic components (body panels, fascia, mudguards, under-cowl, glove box,
storage compartments, battery/controller housings, brackets) for 2W EV platforms using CAD tools
(Creo/CATIA/SolidWorks/NX).
• Own part-level design from concept through PPAP — concept sketches, surfacing, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA,
mold-flow analysis inputs, and design validation.
• Select appropriate resins/grades (PP, ABS, PP-TD/GF, PC-ABS, PA-GF, TPE/TPU) based on functional, aesthetic,
UV/weathering and cost requirements.
• Work closely with tool designers and tooling vendors on mold design reviews,

gate/runner/ejection strategy, parting
lines, draft angles, and shrinkage compensation.
• Drive design for snap-fits, ribs, bosses, living hinges and assembly features to eliminate fasteners and reduce assembly
time/cost.
• Coordinate mold trials, first-article inspection, and resolve warpage, sink marks, flow lines, weld lines and other
molding defects with vendors.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Styling, Electrical, Body-in-White and Testing teams to ensure fit, finish, and
functional integration on the full vehicle.
• Support GD&T;, tolerance analysis and mating-part studies to ensure panel gaps, flushness and NVH targets are met.
• Plan and review validation testing — UV/weathering, thermal cycling, vibration, impact, and material property testing
— with test labs.
• Manage BOM cost, part weight and material cost targets; identify value-engineering opportunities across programs.
• Own supplier/vendor technical interactions for plastic parts — RFQs, design reviews, tooling timelines and PPAP sign-
off.
• Maintain design documentation, drawings, ECNs and part release records in line with the product development / stage-
gate process.

RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Plastics or Polymer Engineering (M.Tech is a plus).
• 3–8 years of experience in mechanical design of plastic components, ideally within automotive, two-wheeler, or
consumer durables/EV OEMs or their Tier-1 suppliers.
• Demonstrated experience designing injection-molded exterior and interior plastic parts through to mass production
(multiple part/program launches).
• Strong working knowledge of plastic materials, additives, and their behavior under thermal, UV and mechanical
loading.
• Hands-on proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo/CATIA/SolidWorks/NX) and 2D drafting/GD&T; as per ASME Y14.5.
• Practical exposure to mold design principles, mold-flow analysis (Moldflow or similar) and tooling processes.
• Experience working directly with tooling vendors and molders, including mold trials and defect troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with a formal stage-gate/PDP (product development process) and APQP/PPAP documentation.
• Valuable understanding of vehicle-level integration — panel fits, gaps, NVH and durability considerations.

PREFERRED / GOOD TO HAVE
• Prior experience specifically on electric two-wheelers or automotive body panels.
• Exposure to FEA basics for plastic part structural checks.
• Knowledge of sustainable/recycled plastic materials and their application in mobility products.
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup or new-program environment with tight timelines.
