JOB DESCRIPTION – SEWING OPERATOR
Job Title: Sewing Operator
Department: Production – Sewing
Reports To: Sewing Line Leader / Supervisor
Location: Poomalur Division
1. Job Purpose
To operate sewing machines efficiently and perform assigned sewing operations as per the approved garment specifications, while achieving the required quality, productivity, and efficiency standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently.
- Perform stitching operations as per the operation bulletin, work instructions, and approved sample.
- Ensure correct handling and alignment of fabric and garment components.
- Achieve the assigned hourly and daily production targets.
- Maintain required quality standards and minimize defects, rework, and rejection.
- Check stitching quality, seam allowance, stitch density, thread tension, and appearance.
- Identify and immediately report quality issues to the Line Leader / Supervisor.
- Follow proper procedures for needle breakage and ensure broken needle pieces are accounted for.




- Check machine condition before starting work and keep the machine clean.
- Perform basic machine care such as cleaning, oiling, and replacing needles where authorized.
- Inform the Line Leader / Maintenance Team immediately about machine breakdowns or abnormalities.
- Use the correct thread, needle, attachments, and machine settings for the assigned operation.
- Handle fabric and finished garments carefully to prevent stains, damage, or defects.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the workstation.
- Follow all safety, quality, production, and company procedures.
- Cooperate with the Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Training teams.
- Support cross-training and skill development in different sewing operations.
- Record or report production output and quality issues as required.
