What You'll do
As part of the GNC team at Aule, you will work on vision-based perception and relative navigation for autonomous spacecraft rendezvous and docking. You will develop and test computer vision algorithms, generate synthetic datasets, work with high-fidelity simulators, validate perception performance through ground testing, and support the deployment of the perception stack on flight hardware.
Responsibilities
Develop and test computer vision algorithms for object detection, tracking, and relative pose estimation
Generate and validate synthetic image datasets for various mission phases and scenarios
Optimize vision models for real-time processing on space-grade edge hardware
Support ground testing and hardware-in-the-loop validation of the perception stack
Work closely with the GNC and flight software teams to integrate algorithms into the spacecraft navigation stack
What We Look For
Minimum Requirements
Strong fundamentals in computer vision, image processing, and robotics
Proficiency in Python,
C++ and OpenCV and hands-on experience with PyTorch, or TensorFlow
Familiarity with 3D Computer Vision (SLAM, depth estimation, sensor fusion)
Experience building computer vision projects through coursework, research, student technical teams, or independent projects
Ability to independently experiment, debug, and work through technically challenging problems
You thrive in quick-paced, dynamic environments, adapt quickly, and enjoy solving hard problems
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with 3D synthetic data generation for training vision models
Track record of published research or contributions to open-source projects in related fields
