Cloud Database Platform Engineer
Overview:
The Cloud Database Platform Engineer will be responsible for the successful maintenance and growth of Costco’s Cloud Database environments/technologies. This position will ensure Costco’s database platforms have stability, resilience and optimal performance.



The Cloud Database Platform Engineer will work with Costco’s Infrastructure and Architecture teams to ensure that best practices are followed in supporting multiple enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities:
Database Platforms:
Maintains database security, integrity, and availability.
Manages database performance and capacity.
Works with team members to establish routine maintenance; monitoring; alerting; metrics.
collection/logging to proactively identify database related issues, ensuring the database is always highly responsive.
Reviews performance stats and recommends changes for SQL query tuning/optimization.
Participate in off hours 24/7 on call support on a rotational basis
Assumes ownership of database issues; pursues problem resolution and root cause analysis.
Works with the Cloud vendors/providers to create a strategy for migrating/upgrading
databases to minimize business impact.
Stays current on the key facets of the applications that leverage the databases being
