Key responsibilities:
- Patient examination and diagnosis: Examine teeth, gums, and jaws using diagnostic tools like dental instruments, X-rays, and study models.
- Diagnose and assess issues such as crowded teeth, malocclusion, and jaw abnormalities.
- Evaluate facial aesthetics and proportions.
- Treatment planning and implementation: Develop and discuss treatment plans with patients, outlining options and costs.
- Prescribe and fit orthodontic appliances, including braces (metal, ceramic, or clear aligners), retainers, and headgear.
- Perform necessary procedures, such as adjusting braces or, in some cases, coordinating with oral surgeons for jaw surgery.
- Patient care and follow-up: Conduct regular checkups to monitor progress, make adjustments, and tighten braces.




- Remove appliances and guide patients on how to care for their teeth during and after treatment.
- Provide education on positive oral hygiene practices, including brushing and flossing techniques.
- Administrative and collaborative duties: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and medical histories.
- Collaborate with other orthodontists, dental assistants, and healthcare professionals.
- Manage appointments and schedules.
- Business and legal compliance: Ensure all work complies with orthodontic guidelines, regulations, and standards.
