Role: L2 Network Engineer
Function: Network Operations & Support (Switching / LAN Infrastructure)
Engagement: AMC — managed maintenance, administration, monitoring & support of L2/L3 switches
Location / Site: School Campus, Noida (onsite presence required as per SLA)
Experience: 3–6 years in enterprise/campus network switching support
Reporting To: Network Team Lead / Service Delivery Manager
Role Summary
The L2 Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the campus L2 and L3 network switching infrastructure delivered under an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC). The engineer ensures the availability, reliability, security, and optimal performance of the switching setting, resolves incidents within agreed SLAs, coordinates with OEMs for hardware faults/RMA, and provides both remote and onsite support to keep network operations uninterrupted. This is a hands-on, multi-vendor role covering Juniper, Aruba, Cisco, HPE, Huawei and Netgear switches across core and access layers.
Key Responsibilities




Switch Operations, Administration & Security
• Configure, re-configure, and optimize L2 and L3 switches across the campus.
• Create, modify, and delete VLANs; manage user access ports and network connectivity requirements.
• Configure Switch Virtual Interfaces (SVI), virtual ports, trunk ports, port channels, and link aggregation.
• Configure and maintain Layer-3 routing services.
• Configure and manage High Availability (HA) — switch stacking, virtual chassis, HSRP, VRRP, or equivalent technologies.
• Perform periodic security scanning of all switches (L2 & L3) and remediate identified vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
Monitoring & Preventive Maintenance
• Continuously monitor and administer network switches.
• Conduct monthly health checks covering hardware status, CPU and memory utilization, power supplies, fans, uplinks, interfaces, and system logs.
