Roto Artist:
Job Purpose: Roto Artists are responsible for creating garbage mattes and articulate mattes to help Paint Artists and Compositors to integrate seamlessly all elements of a shot to the highest level of VFX photo-realism.

Key relationships: Roto Lead, Roto Supervisor

Responsibilities and Duties
- Create roto mattes for Compositors to use with an understanding of how the mattes will be used.
- Handle complex shots, with elements in multiple layers, extensive motion blur and focus pulls.
- 2D Tracking and planar tracking in both Silhouette and Nuke
- Take ownership and responsibility of the roto task and proactively problem solve the potential issues faced.
- Understand feedback given by lead or supervisors.
- Work with the team, within the studio and globally.
- Accurately understand on how long the roto task will take to complete and flag any issues as soon as possible.

Skills and Competence

Essential:




- Prior experience of rotoscoping in Silhouette or Nuke.
- Able to work well under pressure and great team worker.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Solid eye for detail and precision.

Desirable:
- Desire to learn and mentor junior artists.
- Basic understanding of Paint and Compositing techniques.
- Interest in photography and image manipulation.

Measurements of Success

Work closely with HOD, Head of Studio and Head of VFX to ensure the team delivers the highest quality of work within stipulated deadlines and minimum kickbacks.

Educations Qualification

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Roto Artist.
