The Procurement Executive is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for raw materials, packaging, and other supplies required for food production. The role focuses on ensuring cost-effective purchasing, maintaining quality standards, and supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials (grains, spices, oils, additives) and packaging materials
- Develop and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules to optimize costs
- Generate and manage purchase orders and track delivery timelines
- Coordinate closely with production, quality, and warehouse teams for demand planning
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as FSSAI and internal quality policies
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery
- Identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain procurement documentation, reports, and MIS data
Required Skills:
- Robust negotiation and vendor management skills
- Good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes
- Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Tally, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and coordination skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in B.Com, BBA, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in food or FMCG manufacturing
Preferred Skills (Food Industry)
- Knowledge of food-grade raw materials and supplier sourcing
- Understanding of FSSAI regulations and quality compliance
- Experience in handling perishable goods and shelf-life-sensitive inventory
