Position Overview

Regional Surface Head role is accountable for the end-to-end governance, performance, and optimization of the Surface Network, SFC Hub Operations, Surface Fleet, and First Mile (PUD) Operations across multiple states.

Owns regional Surface Hub performance, transportation efficiency, fleet utilization, First Mile integration, network flow, service quality, productivity, and cost optimization to ensure seamless movement of shipments from pickup through middle-mile transportation.

Leads Regional Surface Fleet &

- Network Managers, Regional Senior Manager –
- PUD Operations, and Regional SFC Hub Managers, driving operational consistency, standardized execution, infrastructure readiness, and continuous improvement across all Surface operations within the region.

Acts as the regional owner for Surface Operations by integrating Hub Operations, Fleet &
- Network Management, and PUD Operations to deliver superior service quality, operational excellence, and cost efficiency.

This role operates as a regional capability and governance function, working closely with Air Network, CPU Operations, Last Mile Operations, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, and Network Planning teams to ensure a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective logistics network.

To build and operate a high-performing Surface Operations network by integrating SFC Hub Operations, Surface Fleet &

- Network, and First Mile (PUD) Operations, while driving operational excellence, service quality, transportation efficiency, hub productivity, customer experience, and cost optimization across the region.

Strategic Leadership

- Define and execute the regional Surface Operations strategy aligned with service SLAs, business growth, and cost objectives.
- Translate national Surface Operations strategies into region-specific execution plans.
- Drive continuous improvement across Surface Hub Operations, Surface Fleet &
- Network, and First Mile Operations.

Leadership

- Lead and manage Regional Surface Fleet &
- Network Managers, Regional SFC Hub Managers, and Regional Senior Manager –
- PUD Operations across the region, ensuring alignment to service, productivity, cost, and operational excellence objectives.
- Provide strategic direction and governance across Surface Hub Operations, Surface Fleet &
- Network, and First Mile (PUD) Operations, ensuring seamless integration and standardized execution throughout the regional Surface Network.
- Drive operational excellence by improving hub throughput, transportation efficiency, fleet utilization, pickup productivity, infrastructure readiness, and end-to-end network performance.
- Build leadership capability, succession pipeline, and operational bench strength while fostering a high-performance culture across all Surface Operations functions.
- Drive collaboration between Surface Operations, CPU, Air Network, Last Mile, Commercial, Engineering, Finance, HR, and other cross-functional teams to achieve regional service and business objectives.
- Ensure consistent implementation of national operational strategies, governance frameworks, and best practices across all regional Surface Operations.

Operational Excellence

- Own and govern operational performance across Surface Hubs, Surface Fleet &
- Network, and First Mile Operations.
- Drive network optimization through improved routing, fleet utilization, hub productivity, and transportation planning.
- Ensure seamless integration between First Mile, Middle Mile, and downstream operations to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
- Establish standardized operating practices across all Surface Operations while ensuring compliance with SOPs, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor regional operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve network productivity and service performance.

Cost Optimization &

- Efficiency

- Drive transportation and operational cost optimization through improved fleet utilization, route optimization, manpower productivity, and infrastructure utilization.
- Monitor cost per shipment and identify opportunities to improve regional operating efficiency.
- Balance cost optimization initiatives with customer service commitments and operational reliability.

Process Re-engineering &

- Continuous Improvement

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, service quality, and transportation efficiency.
- Drive standardization of operational processes across Surface Hubs, Fleet Operations, and PUD Operations.
- Implement scalable operating models to support business growth and peak season readiness.

Stakeholder &

- Governance

- Collaborate with Air Network, CPU Operations, Last Mile Operations, Finance, Engineering, Commercial, HR, Procurement, and Network Planning teams to ensure end-to-end operational alignment.
- Ensure alignment between regional execution and national operational strategy.
- Act as the regional SME for Surface Operations in internal governance forums and strategic discussions.

Qualifications &

- Experience:

- Education:



Bachelor's degree (Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain preferred)
- MBA/PG desirable.
- Experience: 12–15 years of experience in logistics operations with strong exposure to Surface Transportation, Hub Operations, Fleet Management, First Mile Operations, and Multi-location Operations.
- Proven experience in managing large cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
- Exposure to network optimization, transportation planning, and cost management preferred.
- Preferred Industries: Express Logistics, 3PL, Transportation, eCommerce Logistics, Supply Chain.
