Role Description
We are looking for an experienced PLC Programmer with 3–8 years of experience to join our automation engineering team.
The PLC Programmer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems for manual and robotic weld lines, assembly fixtures, and material handling systems .
Key responsibilities include configuring and testing PLC logic, integrating sensors and actuators, troubleshooting control systems, and optimizing programs for safety, reliability, efficiency, and cycle time .
The role involves close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and robotics engineers, along with supporting commissioning activities at customer sites.
The programmer will also be responsible for technical documentation, program backups, change logs, system upgrades, diagnostics, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, and debug PLC programs for automotive automation systems.
- Develop control logic for manual and robotic spot/MIG welding lines, assembly fixtures, and material handling systems.
- Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, safety devices, welding controllers, and other automation components.
- Perform PLC/HMI testing, simulation, debugging, and system validation.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, I/O, communication, and control-system issues during installation, commissioning, and production.
- Optimize PLC programs for machine safety, reliability, cycle time, and productivity.
- Support electrical and robotics teams during machine integration and commissioning.
- Provide in office support at customer locations for commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and production support.
- Prepare and maintain PLC program backups, change records, technical documentation, operating manuals, and user guides.
- Analyze recurring machine/control issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Follow project standards,
programming guidelines, safety requirements, and documentation practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Strong PLC programming skills in Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar platforms .
- Good knowledge of Ladder Logic and Function Block Programming .
- Experience with automotive automation, robotic weld lines, welding controllers, assembly systems, or material handling equipment is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of sensors, actuators, VFDs/servos, industrial communication networks, and machine safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical control drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings .
- Strong experience in PLC/HMI testing, debugging, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of industrial automation and basic machine safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively with mechanical, electrical, robotics, and project engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good documentation skills and ability to maintain program backups and change logs.
- Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline , or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience working in automotive manufacturing or automation environments will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in the Pune Division and travel to customer locations for commissioning and service activities.
