Position Title: Manager – Business Strategy

Department: Executive Director’s (ED’s) Office

Reporting To: General Manager – Business Strategy

Location: Mumbai, India

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly analytical and driven professional to join the Executive Director’s office at a leading, publicly listed Indian pharmaceutical company. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Business Strategy, this role will be pivotal in shaping the company’s future growth trajectory. The Manager will primarily focus on driving new product in-licensing opportunities and charting the strategic roadmap for expansion into new therapeutic areas.

Given the role's placement within the ED’s office, the successful candidate will gain high-level executive visibility and must possess strong commercial acumen, robust financial modeling skills, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Product Licensing & Business Development:

- Asset Scouting & Identification: Proactively scan the domestic and global pharmaceutical landscape to identify potential in-licensing targets, co-development opportunities, and strategic alliances that align with the company’s growth objectives.
- Commercial Evaluation & Financial Modeling: Conduct rigorous commercial assessments of identified assets. Build robust financial models (NPV, IRR, DCF) and business cases to evaluate the viability and ROI of potential licensing deals.
- Due Diligence Coordination: Lead and coordinate cross-functional due diligence (commercial, regulatory, clinical, legal, and intellectual property) for shortlisted assets.
- Deal Structuring & Execution: Support the General Manager in term-sheet formulation, contract negotiations, and deal closures with partner companies (both MNCs and domestic players).

2. New Therapy Area (TA)



Expansion:

- Market Intelligence & Landscaping: Conduct deep-dive market research into unrepresented or emerging therapeutic areas. Analyze epidemiological trends, unmet medical needs, and competitive landscapes.
- Strategic Entry Roadmaps: Develop comprehensive "Go-to-Market" and entry strategies for new TAs. Assess the feasibility of organic development versus inorganic acquisition (Build vs. Buy).
- Portfolio Synergy: Ensure that proposed TA expansions synergize with the company’s existing manufacturing capabilities, sales force strengths, and long-term corporate vision.

3. Executive Office Support:

- Prepare high-quality presentations, strategic memos, and dashboards for the Executive Director.
- Collaborate with R&D;, Regulatory, Marketing, and Finance teams to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives.
- Support ad-hoc strategic projects and corporate development initiatives as required.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications:

- Educational Background: MBA from a premier B-School. A foundational degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Medicine (B.Pharm / M.Pharm ) is preferred.
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of post-MBA experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, specifically in Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Portfolio Management, or a Life Sciences Consulting role.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis. Deep understanding of the Indian pharmaceutical market dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and regulatory environment.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong stakeholder management abilities with the maturity to interact with senior leadership and external partners.
- Mindset: Entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a quick-paced executive environment.
