Junior Backend Developer | Node.js / TypeScript

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer with hands-on experience in Node.js and TypeScript to join our engineering team.

You will work on an enterprise-grade HR AI and Analytics platform being developed for a large manufacturing conglomerate. The platform will include an AI-powered HR assistant, employee and manager dashboards, HR analytics, performance tracking, attendance insights, availability tracking, efficiency monitoring, and integrations with existing enterprise systems.

You will work closely with senior backend developers and technical leads, contributing to API development, database integrations, authentication, data processing, and AI/RAG-related backend workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain backend APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
- Build REST APIs using Express.js or NestJS
- Develop APIs for dashboards, analytics, reporting, and enterprise modules
- Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar databases
- Design database schemas and write efficient SQL queries
- Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control
- Integrate third-party and internal REST APIs
- Build Excel and CSV import and data processing workflows
- Assist with data synchronization and background processing jobs
- Support file uploads, document processing, and metadata management
- Contribute to AI and RAG backend workflows and LLM API integrations
- Implement request validation, error handling, logging, and basic security practices
- Write unit tests and API tests
- Debug issues and improve backend reliability
- Collaborate with frontend developers for API integration
- Maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI
- Follow Git workflows, pull requests,



and code review practices
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and technical discussions

Required Technical Skills

Backend Development

- Good understanding of Node.js
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with Express.js or NestJS
- Understanding of REST API design and architecture
- Knowledge of routes, controllers, services, middleware, and DTOs
- Understanding of authentication and authorization
- Experience with request validation and error handling

Database

- Basic to intermediate knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Basic understanding of MongoDB
- Understanding of database schema design
- Ability to write SQL queries
- Knowledge of joins, indexes, filtering, sorting, and pagination
- Familiarity with Prisma, Sequelize, TypeORM, or Mongoose

APIs and Integrations

- Experience consuming third-party REST APIs
- Understanding of API authentication such as JWT, API Keys, OAuth basics, and Bearer Tokens
- Familiarity with Postman
- Basic understanding of scheduled jobs and background processing

Security

- Understanding of JWT authentication
- Basic knowledge of password hashing
- Understanding of role-based access control
- Awareness of API security best practices
- Understanding of environment variables and secret management
- Ability to prevent sensitive data exposure through APIs

Cloud and DevOps, Good to Have
- Basic knowledge of AWS or Azure
- Familiarity with S3 or Azure Blob Storage
- Basic understanding of Docker




- Experience with Git and platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket
- Understanding of CI/CD basics
- Basic Linux command-line knowledge

AI and RAG Exposure, Good to Have

Experience or familiarity with any of the following will be an advantage:

- OpenAI API or Azure OpenAI
- LLM API integrations
- Embeddings
- Vector databases
- Document processing
- Text extraction and chunking
- Metadata storage
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

Project Experience We Are Looking For

Candidates should ideally have worked on 2 to 3 backend projects, preferably involving:

- Admin or management dashboards
- CRM, ERP, HRMS, or enterprise applications
- Data-heavy backend APIs
- Authentication and user-role management
- Reporting and analytics APIs
- File upload or data-import modules
- Third-party API integrations
- SaaS or enterprise applications
