Position Title: Enterprise Architect
Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Architect to own the alignment between business strategy and enterprise technology direction. The ideal candidate brings deep experience translating executive priorities into a defensible, multi-year technology roadmap; running formal architecture governance (Engineering Design Authority, Architecture Review Board); leading legacy-to-cloud modernization across multiple systems and teams; and identifying overlapping tools and technical debt that inflate cost of ownership. This role sits above individual product or platform architecture — it requires enterprise-wide ownership of governance, risk, and technology investment, with credibility to operate directly with business leadership and the CXO/board.
Location: NCR / Bangalore / Pune
Experience: 15 - 18 Years+
and Responsibilities
- Own alignment between enterprise IT strategy and overall business strategy, translating multi-year executive priorities into a defensible technology investment roadmap.
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint — business, application, data, integration, and infrastructure layers — ensuring design coherence across the full platform and product portfolio.
- Establish and enforce enterprise technology governance: standards for tool selection, build-vs-buy decisions, coding practices, reference architectures, and architectural compliance across engineering teams.
- Own enterprise risk management for the technology estate — identify architectural, security, and operational weak spots in current systems and drive remediation plans through to closure.
- Act as the primary technical translator between business leadership and engineering, presenting architecture options, trade-offs, risks, and roadmaps in business terms to executive stakeholders.
- Partner with business and product leaders to convert business requirements into target-state technical solutions, with clear traceability from business capability to system design.
- Chair the Engineering Design Authority (EDA) reviewing and approving (or rejecting) new project designs against enterprise standards prior to funding and build sign-off.
- Drive technology and tool rationalization across business units — identify overlapping or redundant platforms and build the business case for consolidation to lower total cost of ownership.
- Define enterprise-wide non-functional standards covering performance, scalability, resilience, security, and regulatory/data-privacy compliance.
- Build and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable frameworks that delivery teams across the organization can adopt directly.
- Own the technology vendor and product evaluation process, ensuring new tools and platforms meet enterprise architecture, security, and integration standards before onboarding.
- Mentor senior architects and technical leads, building architecture maturity, bench-strength, and succession depth across the organization.
- Track and report architecture governance compliance, approved exceptions, and technical debt exposure to executive leadership on a regular cadence.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15–18 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture, including at least 5 years operating at an enterprise-wide (not single-product) architecture level.
- Proven experience running formal architecture governance bodies (ARB, EDA, or equivalent) with real decision-making authority over project approvals and exceptions.
- Strong practical grounding in enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman, applied to real governance and roadmap decisions, not just certification knowledge.
- Track record of building and defending a multi-year technology roadmap directly to CXO or board-level stakeholders.
- Experience driving technology portfolio rationalization and cost optimization with quantified, defensible outcomes.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), modern data architecture, integration patterns, and security/compliance frameworks.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to operate independently with business unit heads, CXOs, and regulators.
- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification strongly preferred.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in insurance, insurtech, BFSI, or other regulated, transaction-heavy domains.
- Exposure to policy administration, billing, claims, or reporting platforms within the insurance value chain.
- Experience architecting for regulatory and compliance regimes (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, insurance-specific regulatory frameworks).
- Experience building or scaling an enterprise architecture governance function from the ground up.
- Prior ownership of a technology budget or P&L;, with direct accountability for cost outcomes.
- Leadership experience across globally distributed or virtual teams.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- A published, executive-approved multi-year enterprise technology roadmap with a clear line of sight to business strategy.
- EDA and ARB operate as genuine decision gates — projects are approved or rejected against defined criteria, not rubber-stamped.
- A measurable reduction in overlapping tools and licenses, with quantified total-cost-of-ownership savings.
- Legacy systems migrated to modern cloud architecture against a documented, risk-managed plan with minimal business disruption.
- Business and technology leadership rely on the enterprise architecture function as the trusted authority for major technology decisions.
