Engineering Manager – Generative AI

We're looking for a hands-on technical leader who is first and foremost a strong engineering manager — someone who has built and shipped high-scale production systems — and who has also gone deep on applying GenAI/LLMs to real product features. You'll lead a team building Java/Python applications with embedded generative AI capabilities, balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end delivery of Java/Python applications with embedded GenAI features, staying hands-on in design and code reviews, not just oversight
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of backend and GenAI engineers
- Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions across the GenAI stack
- Own project timelines, resourcing, and budget for your team's roadmap
- Partner with cross-functional teams (product, data, platform) to align GenAI initiatives with business goals
- Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, and deployment
- Stay current on GenAI and broader engineering advancements, and bring relevant techniques into the team's practice

Requirements





- 8+ years building and deploying high-scale engineering applications, with a strong background in Java
- 2+ years managing/mentoring engineers
- Track record of shipping GenAI products end to end, from prototype to production
- Hands-on experience with at least one SQL database; NoSQL experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in at least one framework (Flask, FastAPI, or Django)
- Practical experience applying GenAI in production: prompting techniques, RAG, and LLM serving frameworks

Nice to Have

- Experience with Elasticsearch or another search/vector database
- Experience with agent frameworks (LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar)
- Working knowledge of NLP concepts and small/large language models
