We are looking for a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer who can contribute to the development of medical devices from prototype and engineering development through testing, validation, and production .

Role Overview

We are seeking a technically strong and hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Medical Devices R&D; team in Navi Mumbai .

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and debugging embedded firmware and electronic systems used in medical devices.

You will work closely with electronics, mechanical, product development, quality, manufacturing, and clinical/application teams to convert product requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and safe embedded systems.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an R&D; laboratory and troubleshooting problems across firmware, electronics, sensors, motors, actuators, and communication interfaces .

Key Responsibilities1. Embedded Firmware Development

- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware using Embedded C/C++ .
- Develop firmware for microcontroller-based medical and rehabilitation devices.
- Work with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32, PIC , or equivalent microcontrollers.
- Develop firmware in bare-metal and RTOS environments .
- Implement device-control logic, sensor interfaces, motor/actuator control, alarms, safety functions, user-interface functions, data acquisition, logging, and communication.
- Optimize firmware for reliability, performance, maintainability, and production use.
- Perform firmware debugging, optimization, and root-cause analysis.

1. Hardware–Firmware Integration

- Collaborate with electronics engineers during schematic, PCB, and prototype development.
- Participate in PCB bring-up and hardware–firmware integration .
- Interface and troubleshoot:
- Sensors
- Motors
- Actuators
- Encoders
- Limit switches
- Displays
- Keypads/buttons
- ADC/DAC
- Relays
- Analog and digital circuits
- Diagnose whether problems originate from firmware, electronics, hardware interfaces, or system integration.

1. Sensors, Motors & Actuators

Experience with electromechanical systems will be highly valued. The candidate may work with:
- Position and pressure sensors
- Temperature and other analog sensors




- Encoders
- DC motors
- BLDC motors
- Stepper motors
- Servo motors
- Linear actuators
- Motor drivers
- Limit switches
- Electromechanical safety mechanisms

Knowledge of closed-loop control, PWM, feedback systems, and PID concepts will be an advantage.

1. Communication Interfaces

Hands-on experience with several of the following:
- UART
- SPI
- I²C
- CAN
- USB
- RS-232 / RS-485
- BLE / Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi
- Ethernet

Experience with telemetry, data logging, device connectivity, or IoT applications will be an advantage.
1. Testing & Debugging

Use laboratory equipment to systematically identify and resolve technical problems, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Digital multimeters
- Function/signal generators
- DC power supplies
- Electronic loads

The candidate should be capable of tracing signals and diagnosing problems at the firmware, communication, sensor, power, and actuator levels .

1. Medical Device Development & Quality

Participate in the development of medical devices within Shulkon's quality and design-control processes. Exposure to the following will be preferred:
- ISO 13485
- ISO 14971
- IEC 62304
- Design controls
- Risk management
- Software requirements
- Software architecture and design
- Verification and validation
- Traceability
- Root-cause analysis
- Corrective and preventive actions

Medical-device experience is preferred but not mandatory. .

1. Technical Documentation

Prepare and maintain technical documentation including:
- Firmware/software requirements
- Firmware architecture and design documents
- Interface specifications
- Test protocols
- Test reports
- Verification records
- Debugging and root-cause reports
- Version-control records
- Engineering change documentation

Required Technical SkillsMust Have
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, electronics product development, or a closely related field.
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++ .
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M / STM32 or equivalent .
- Strong understanding of:
- GPIO
- Interrupts
- Timers
- PWM
- ADC/DAC
- UART
- SPI
- I²C
- Experience with hardware–firmware integration.
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
- Experience with PCB bring-up and debugging .
- Hands-on experience using an oscilloscope and logic analyzer .
- Good understanding of microcontroller architecture and embedded debugging.




- Experience with Git or equivalent version-control systems .
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Education B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in:

- Electronics
- Electronics & Telecommunication
- Electrical Engineering
- Instrumentation
- Computer Engineering
- Embedded Systems
- or a related discipline

Relevant hands-on industry experience will be given significant importance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for an engineer who is hands-on, technically curious, and comfortable working in an R&D; laboratory .

The ideal candidate should be capable of independently working through:

Product Requirement → Embedded Design → Firmware → PCB Bring-up → Sensor/Motor Integration → Debugging → Testing → Verification → Production

Candidates who have personally developed and debugged real embedded products will be strongly preferred over candidates whose experience is primarily limited to software maintenance or application-level programming.
