This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, India based in India.

This role serves as the senior-most India-based leader for a growing global organization, combining country leadership with statutory Board Director responsibilities. You will oversee the local legal entity while connecting global strategy with effective execution across India. The position has broad ownership spanning governance, financial and regulatory compliance, people decisions, risk management, and operational performance.

You will work closely with global executives, India-based managers, finance teams, HR, external advisors, auditors, and regulators. As the local accountable leader, you will establish strong governance rhythms and operating discipline within a highly autonomous, fully remote environment. This is an opportunity to shape the foundations of an India operation while influencing its long-term growth, performance, and organizational effectiveness.

Accountabilities:

- Serve as the primary liaison between India operations and global leadership, ensuring strong alignment, coordination, and escalation of critical issues.
- Lead overall India operations, translating global strategy into local execution and providing regular updates to global executive leadership.
- Act as the senior-most leader for India-based employees, establishing governance practices and fostering a high-performance, autonomous, values-driven remote organization.
- Serve as the statutory Board Director for the Indian entity, participating in board meetings, approving resolutions and minutes, and signing statutory filings and compliance documents.
- Own statutory, tax, financial, audit, and regulatory compliance for the Indian legal entity, acting as the key contact for external auditors and Indian regulatory authorities.

- Partner with external advisors and internal finance teams on tax filings, audits, transfer pricing, and other legal-entity and regulatory matters.
- Own India-related people decisions, including hiring,



compensation, performance management, employee relations, and terminations, while functional leaders remain responsible for day-to-day team management.
- Partner with HR on local people strategy, talent decisions, employee relations, policies, and compliance with Indian labor requirements, including POSH and state-specific regulations.

- Manage local vendor relationships supporting the India operation and ensure effective delivery of local services.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational, regulatory, financial, and organizational risks affecting India operations.

Requirements:

- 15–20+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in India site leadership, General Manager, COO, country head, or similar senior leadership roles within multinational organizations.
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to navigate stakeholder management within complex global and matrixed organizations.
- Experience leading teams where functional reporting lines sit with global leaders while maintaining a local leadership or dotted-line relationship.
- Solid knowledge of financial and legal-entity management, statutory compliance, audits, taxation, and transfer pricing in the Indian context.
- Demonstrated experience working with Big Four firms, legal counsel, auditors, or other external advisors on Indian entity matters.
- Experience with people leadership across hiring, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and exits in India.
- Comfort assuming statutory Board Director responsibilities, including approving and signing board, regulatory, and compliance documentation and understanding the associated personal accountability.




- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust across India-based teams, global executives, delivery managers, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to influence decisions, drive accountability, and hold firm in complex environments while maintaining a people-focused leadership approach.
- Strong understanding of business strategy, operations, organizational priorities, and the ability to translate global objectives into effective local execution.
- Prior experience establishing or scaling a Global Capability Center in India is a plus.
