Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop industrial automation systems and machine concepts based on project requirements.
- Prepare 2D and 3D designs, layouts, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Design automation machines, fixtures, tooling, conveyors, material-handling systems, and machine components as applicable.
- Select suitable mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation components.
- Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials), component specifications, and technical documentation.
- Develop control panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings, depending on project requirements.
- Work with PLC, HMI, servo, VFD, sensors, pneumatic systems, robotics, and other automation technologies.
- Coordinate with PLC/Controls Engineers for machine integration and commissioning.
- Review designs for functionality, manufacturability, safety, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Support prototype development, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and machine commissioning.
- Analyze design issues and implement appropriate engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors for component selection, technical clarification, and fabrication requirements.
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings and revision-controlled documentation.
- Provide technical support to production, assembly, installation, and service teams.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industrial standards and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Industrial Automation and Machine Design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or CATIA.
- Understanding of electrical control systems and industrial automation components.
- Knowledge of PLC, HMI, VFD, Servo, Sensors, Pneumatics, and Industrial Networking is preferred.
- Positive understanding of mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, couplings, linear guides, actuators, gearboxes, and pneumatic cylinders.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in preparing BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Basic understanding of machine safety and industrial safety practices.
- Familiarity with automation standards and design practices is an advantage.
